An embassy is technically part of a country.
They contacted the Syrian government to hold back the demonstration, but they did nothing. Just let it happened. That kinda like declaring war.

The newspaper wanted to see where the bounderies of their free speech was in order to start a local debate in Denmark.

Danish Muslims got offended, which I fully understand, and they reported the newspaper to the police. The legal system found that the cartoons were not in violation of the Danish laws.
Just to clarify: In Denmark the laws are very tolerant.

The offended group of imams did not respect the Danish laws and took the matter into their own hands. So they made-up some really bad pictures themselves which were never published in Denmark, and then those imam-bastards (sorry for the insult, but true) travelled all around Middle-East and showed the false pictures to their local governments and other religious leaders.

Those false pictures (e.g. showing Muhammed as a pig, or a praying Muslim being raped by a dog anally) of course up-set the religious leaders and the local press in the Middle-East.

The Danish government has in vain tried to explain the situation but noone has ever wanted to listen. It must be because they are happy about the fact that they now have a common enemy. How pathetic

After the imams had travelled all across Middle-East spreading their lies and hate, ambassadors from 11 Islamic countries contacted the Danish Prime Minister because they wanted to have a meeting about the cartoons.

The purpose of this meeting was that they demanded that the Danish governement and the independent newspaper should apoligize, and on top of that these ambassadors insisted on that the newspaper should be punished.

The Danish Prime Minister explained that the government, press and legal system are different independent organs and he was not able to do anything about it - so he refused to have the meeting with them.

This is now being used against Denmark as an excuse that "Denmark rejected to talk about the issue peacefully 3 months ago".

There is nothing to discuss when a group of foreign ambassadors come and demand that country's government should take illegal actions against it's own citizens. Denmark has it's own democratic laws, and is not subject to Sharia Law.

The entire situation is really sad. It seems that the imams have succeeded in their hidden agenda: To create a bigger distance between democracy and Islam.

Then it is easier for them to claim the Europe is Islamophobic, and thus they will gain greater power among their beleivers.

I mean if you make massive attacks on a people who has had no intentions of insulting anyone, and they even apologized in order to show their good will. The kindness of the Danish people has only been abused and met with hate.

The cartoons were made to insite hatred. Thats what they have done.

I believe in freedom of speech, but with it comes consequences. The consequence of printing cartoons that were designed to insult 2 billion of the worlds population is that a small minority of those two billion people have used it to justify acts of hatred back.

These type of cartoons are the exact same type of cartoons that were printed in Europe about the Jews before the second wolrd war. Designed for one purpose. To create hatred and build prejudice. Thats what they have done and done well.

I believe that all freedom of speech should be alowed, these pictures should be allowed even if they are designed to create hatred. But dont lets all be that naive that we think that some of the people they are designed to insult wont be using it as a new weapon to hit back.

If so then your correct, no newspaper should print drawings that make fun with anoter religion, but that does not justify all these actions taken against Denmark because of one Newspapers drawings.
