These were different days JJ - it was a game and raids were part of the course in the industry
LE don't seem to do that now and appear to acknowledge there is a level of "public acceptability" which would have no hope in hell of effective prosecution in a jury trial. (If you saw the actual mags you'd roll over the floor laughing and a jury would prob do the same

Despite that - had one cunning prosecutor who painted a picture of "ranges of obscenity" from "mild obscenity" to "extreme obscenity" and presented the idea that subject material was the "mildest form of obscenity" to a jury and argued that this was still obscene under the legal definition - smart move

It would be very hard to claim anything other than "mild", but he failed to convince the court.
Since these days, it's amazing what juries have elected to say is not obscene - would hate to try and put up a justifiable defense for some of these cases.
