Obscenity Manual: how to prosecute obscenity

Some of this may be dated, but a prosecutor's playbook is always an interesting read:

How many obscenity cases are actually won by the prosecution? Seems the manual doesn't work very well.

Winning is secondary, finacially draining you and trying you in public is the goal.

Whether a prosecution is successful or not isn't generally judged in terms of number of convictions.

Success is usually defined by how much press is generated, how much noise is made, and most important of all. . . how many local or state politicians get re-elected.

              Re-election IS success. . . not convictions.

It seems to me the big unknown/ omission/ gap there is the *online* aspect of the porn business. That article dates from 1988.

Shit, there are virtually NO drug cases that go to trial.
