    Anyone Ever Had Sleep Paralysis?

I get it about once every couple months it seems like. Really kind of scary. Wondering if anyone has had it and knows of ways to deal with it.

Yes. Don't sleep on your back with very heavy sheets. The only times it happened to me is when I was sleeping on my back. It was scary as shit though.

A girl once told me "Give me 8 inches and make it HURT".

So, I fucked her twice and hit her with a brick.

I had it the other night and was really fucked in the head. I felt like I woke up in my room and I was looking at my door but couldn't move. Then a Jesus Christ image appeared and got larger and larger. Then I woke up. I'm not Christian or anything, scared the fuck out of me.

I've had it a few times. Scary stuff. It feels like some kind of force or spirit is holding you down and you are so scared you are frozen.

They can put any scientific explanation they want behind it but that shit feels supernatural.

It has happened to me twice before. Very frightening but kind of cool once I found out what it was. I felt an evil presence in the room with hallucinations and the feeling of floating out of my body.

Some theories suggest that sleep paralysis can be triggered by electromagnetic fields that cause disturbances in your temporal lobe. When I had mine my bed was very near to the electrical panel for the house.

Here's a drawing from the 1700's that they used to describe it...

Obviously the added a bit of sex to it since it's a woman.

Yes...once only and it was earlier this year.
I woke with a fright and was awake and aware instantly. There appeared to be a big, dark mass to the left of me (I sleep on the left side of the bed), which then seemed to swivel towards me.
As it turned I felt an overwhelming sensation of being smothered, as though a huge wave washed over me. I couldn't move at all, though I could see and hear. I couldn't breathe for a few seconds and then suddently the dark form faded away, I could move and breathe.
I was shaking and sweating though having an interest in the paranormal (as it's often called 'Old Hag Syndrome) I knew what had just occured.
It was the one and (so far) only time it's happened to me.
I was a peculiar feeling and I can understand why it can scare the shit out of some people.

It happened to me fairly often when I was a kid. My parents thought it was a medical issue, so they took me in for tests and stuff to try to figure out what it was, but they never found anything. It eventually stopped happening and its never happened to me as an adult.

I agree with the not sleeping on the back thing. After about the 3rd time of it happening I stopped sleeping on my back. Probably never will the rest of my life. I also found leaving a radio on when you go to sleep will help you get over it. The first time it happened to me I swear I stayed up for 3 days. Nothing worse than being frozen with fear and feeling the presence of someone over you in the dark. Especially when you are alone in the house. It is the most intense fear I have ever felt, complete petrification but awareness.

That sums up the expirience perfectly. It was scary and really quite unsettling. Took me a long time to get back to sleep that night and I was shit scared to get out of bed as the feeling that 'something' was in the room with me was enough to keep me there.

Had it once when I was younger. Stuck in my bed and the only thing I could do was move my tongue. Weird feeling.

Sleep paralysis is a phenomena that occurs in 52% of the world's population. I have had a ton of these episodes which drove me to research it.

There is alot to learn about this state which occurs during REM. Science can not explain it since science really doesn't understand dreaming. There are so many explenations.

I have seen the old woman that appears during this state. She is draped in all black and you can't really make out a face. Legend says that the more you see of her the closer you are to death. This can be true scientifically since if you do see her in true form, it can lead to heart attack while you sleep brought on by fear.

The truth is that from what I read the explenation I have realized is quite scary and probably not something you want to hear. The old hag phenomena (seeing the old woman) is something that is described by people from all different cultures and locations. How can someone from the big city describe the same being as someone from a small native tribe (Africa) if it is not a real thing?

Further it is said that she is the cause of all that happens when you sleep at night. For instance restless leg syndrome, where your appendages seem to suddenly spaz in an attempt to wake you. Science tells us that when we sleep our senses shut off except for the sense that keeps us alert to danger. What we also know is that dreams are caused by external stimuli, which means that if something is happening around you while you sleep, it translates to your dreams. If a book falls on you, you dream you bump your head. Your brain picks the closest image to the feeling. Now knowing those two things, it means that your body is responding to some kind of danger in an attempt to wake you. Your senses are telling you there is something there you can't see.

The phenomena works on fear. If you know about it and are afraid of it, your occurences become more frequent, such as they did with me.
If you can get past the fear, you beat it. It's bs about the angle of sleep you are in, or what blanket you're tucked under. It's all about fear. Sleep with a nightlight if you need to until the occurances stop. It worked for me.

Sleep paralysis also transcends into a much deeper phenomena of lucid dreaming. If you are able to stay inside the state of awareness that you feel when you are having a Night Terror (sleep paralysis) and beat the fear without waking yourself, you will find yourself in a state of dreaming that you never imagined. A state where you know you are dreaming and can actually control it. I've done it and it's incredible. The wiseasses in here will probably ask what I was on when this happened, but the truth is I never touched a drug in my life. If you want to ask me anything about this just ICQ me 305638991, I can share all I've learned on the topic from my experiences and help you get through it. It's scary as hell, that I know. When I had them, I didn't have anyone tell me it was ok. But they can be dealt with.

I can recall experiencing it once as a child.

Not a particularly fond memory... but a bit different. I recall a sensation of pins and needles all over my body.

And to get out of it, you can try moving your facial muscles like your eyes and stuff.

A girl once told me "Give me 8 inches and make it HURT".

So, I fucked her twice and hit her with a brick.

I have, several times, it's a freaky experience.

You feel as though you are awake but you can't awaken fully or move your body. The only thing I can do is barely shake my head side to side trying to snap out of it.

When it does occur it's usually right before I fall asleep. I told my doctor about it and he acted like he didnt know what the fuck I was talking about!

I wonder if kimbo or mike tyson would be scared of such an experience ;)

My experiances: Your mind awakes but you CANNOT move. (not even open your eyes)
The worse part is that you are still shallow breathing which you cannot control. You become nervous and try to take a deeper breath but cannot.
My doctors say that sleep Apnia may haveplayed a role, but I am not about to wear the mask fot the rest of my life.

It's been a year or so since my last one, but I used to have one every few days.

It's said that Sleep paralysis can be used to induce Out of body experiences. Try it someday, but don't spy on me bro.
