Trust me because I'm half North American Indian I have done my fair share of thinking about the subject of racism. No I don't have "issues."

But when someone knows I'm half Indian and they see me buying a case of beer I get the dirty looks or comments about being a drunk. (I've never been drunk a day in my life)

or I go into a bank at the near the end of the month and the teller assumes I'm there to cash a welfare cheque. (I've never been on it in my entire life)

Or I get people that stop me on the street and ask me if I know where they can score some dope. (I never what the stuff looked like before I lived in L.A.)

Or if I visit the home of someone I just met, they put away their valuables so I don't see what they own. (I've never stolen a damn thing in my life... Not even the hotel towels.)

And part of the reason I do adult is because I got tired of NOT getting the job I was qualified for. You see I have a degree in psychology but everyone knows that Indian's drop out of school at 8 years of age and can't read.

Growing up in North America I looked very "Indian" and wasn't until I exploited my red hair, got out of the sun and started to use skin whiteners that it backed off. Taking my husband's last name helped a lot too.

Y'know I'm probably the only professional editorial news cartoonist on this board. Spent years doing very controversial editorial cartoons. Yes, you will get some shit from people but only from people who take things too seriously. It's a very powerful medium as you can see from this story. It's not a power to be taken too lightly.

It was NOT a show of support by the other papers. If it was an attempt at it, than the people that made the decision to re-print are complete idiots. And allow me to explain why.

A prudent person would stop and look at the current situation. They would see that this has cause problems. Not only for the paper but for the entire country. The people employed by the firms that sell or ship consumer products to arab nations are the ones that are ultimately going to be hurt.

And if the fucking wing-nut extremists get it in their stupid heads to force the issue... Then you're responsible for getting people killed. "Congratuations on your support for freedom of speech! I'm sure some mother or widow will be real comforted that you printed those cartoons."

If they wanted to show support there was a much better way to do it!
