Most flat nosed dogs have issues with breathing in hot weather, etc. I grew up with a flatnosed dog so I have some idea what I am up against.Originally posted by SaeunDon't those dogs have problems breathing? It seems that you'd have to put the dog into a kennel if you ever went back to visit the US for a few months, as many airlines don't allow pugs/bulldogs/etc due to nasal problems.
As far as travelling to the States goes, she would be in a kennel or with family members here. Not because of the airlines but because the UK is a rabies free country and if you are going to travel with an animal between the UK and a country that does have rabies (such as the States) you have to put the animal in quarantine for a while after your return. I wouldn't do that to a dog. I only ever go back for a week or two at a time once or twice a year so it is like anyone going on vacation.Comment

Airlines don't have problems carrying them. Many won't carry ANY dogs during the summer months unless they are in the cabin though.Originally posted by SaeunDon't those dogs have problems breathing? I want to get a French Bulldog...

I agree with you media. I had a english bulldog for years. (put him down a ouple years back) Havent had the chance to get a new dog yet since Im not home enough so I dont think its fair, but I have been looking into French Bulldogs as well.. still got the toughness factor in an iddy biddy lidddle body. Very cute dogs.
I have 2 cats (still kittens under 1yr still) but they are totally dogs. Great personality... looking forward to getting a dog again too..

That is the type of dog I want, but black and red in color. I am a big dog person and would love to get a German Shepard named George but I can't get him for a while. So I would love to get a pinscher and name him Franklin.Originally posted by reynoldwow! cute puppy!
I'm a dog lover, too
here's my cute mini pinscher:

Anyway Sarah your puppy is co cute. I have always heard that pugs have a personality like a human. In my neighborhood they have what they call the Pug Posse. It's so funny. They meet over the weekends and there are like 25 of those little guys just running around jumping all over each other playing. Great dogs!

I wish there were that many around here so that I could take her out to play with them. Apparently pugs aren't all that popular here yet. I had a hard time finding somebody within 100 miles of me that had pugs of any age up for sale. I did finally luck out with this lady being 10 miles away.Originally posted by Loryn-Adult.com

I was warned by a few pug owners over here that they are one of the most stolen dogs in the UK so I will have to keep an extra close eye on her when we are out for a walk.Comment

So..Parker the Pug :

and this is Parker's mother:

sorry if this seems like thread-jacking, but i thought i'd show you the most recent pic of lee.loo since i know you love pugs! we took her for a bike ride to dog beach and she did great in her little basket:

Halcyon made a music video of her bike ride too, the music is a guns n' roses/snoop dogg mashup, pure comedy.

We are getting both. A kitten and a dog. We weren't sure which to get first to make it easier but we decided on the puppy first so i can spend all the time I need to train her, etc.Originally posted by xcitecashYour so fickle...were you not looking for a Kitten the other week
or was that to feed to your dog
Plus our interest in Parker was declared with the owner weeks ago.Last edited by Sarah_Jayne; 01-30-2006, 02:46 PM.Comment

No. We were going to get the kitten a few weeks ago so that we had a few months before our trip to Phoenix to spent with it but we had a really hard time finding any available kittens or even young cats. The shelters said that cats are seasonal breeders and there wouldn't be much choice until spring. So, since we hadn't found one and it is now so soon to Phoenix we decided it is best for the kitten if we wait.
My cat that I had for over 10 years died in November and I always said I would get a dog when she died. She was very protective of myself and my husband and wouldn't have been able to deal with another animal so I want to raise the kitten and the puppy together so they have atleast a chance of being used to each other.Comment

How "noisey" are pugs? Are they little jappers? Seem to have personality but I dont know if I could deal with the japping...(if they do)Jeffy B.

blasphemy!!!Originally posted by PeachesWhat an incredibly ugly breed of dog! I can't believe anyone would own a pug. They have that horrible smushed in face like they chase parked cars.

Meh my bulldog was a snorter & snored...so thats ok.. they're arent jappers though? (random endless barking for no reason at all & just loud & annoying) my bulldog had only barked if there was reason (some stranger coming up the stairs, strange noises that startled him etc...)Originally posted by sarah_webincthey are snorters and they snoreJeffy B.

I've heard not but you would have to ask somebody like Peaches that has had them for years. My old ones are old - they sometimes bark at things that don't exist, but usually they sleep through everythingOriginally posted by IWantU_JeffMeh my bulldog was a snorter & snored...so thats ok.. they're arent jappers though? The "puppy" (1.5 years old) has much better ears and barks at things on TV - doorbells, knocking, dogs barking, etc. And she barks at her reflection in the windows
But IMO, they aren't "yappy" dogs, which is one of the reasons I like them

Thanks peaches.. I could deal with them then. Sounds like a shrunken Bulldog really...they're cute for sure. Gotta find a doggy since Im home more.. keep my kitties company..they'll get along with any dog im sure because they are totally dogs trapped in a cats body...they're freaky like that!Originally posted by PeachesMy old ones are old - they sometimes bark at things that don't exist, but usually they sleep through everything
