I have a solution for next years Secret Santa

Ok, I didn't participate in last x-mas secret santa event. Mostly because I don't celebrate the holidays. Anyway, from reading threads it seems there was a lot of fucking going on as far as not sending gifts. So, I ofter this simple idea that should make the next one more fun and satisfy everyone involved.

    1. A company sponsors the event.

    1. Participants should be known in the webmaster community. That is other webmasters have met and done business with them. Not just some name on the board. This should weed out roommates and other one hit wonders and also keep people accountable for participating.

    2. To participate a simple $10 buy in should be made. The proceeds of the buy in will go to the charity of choice (which will be announced) for the company willing to sponsor the Secret Santa. This will weed out the last of the opportunist trolls.

    3. A list of all matches will be kept by the sponsor of the Secret Santa event. In the event of a dispute, said sponsor will contact both parties. If an agreement is not met, then they get outed on the boards.

    4. Everyone involved has a fun time, a charity gets some money and no more of this "roommate" send copied games, or I didn't get shit.

    The end.

That doesn't sound "fun" at all.

How so? It's a win/win situation. A community of adult webmaster friends share secret santa gifts, a hosting company gets some publicity, a charity gets a gift as well, and tossers that have no intention of sending gifts get weeded out. To me it seems like a valid idea.

Well since you work for GFY set it up, line up a sponsor to host it. If you think about it, this could be something that could expand beyond x-mas gift giving. For example, Secret Valentines, Secret April Fools, and so forth. When Joe gives you a raise, you can thank me later.

The best thing to do is to have a list of whos giving to who available to everyone after a certain date.

I have an even better solution:

Take your money and go buy your own self something that you really like and then post a picture of it on the board. If you're too poor to buy yourself something, then you can enjoy the pictures of all those who could.

                    Everyone is happy! Merry Christmas!

Yea that only goes so far untill someone that didn't send a gift has a user name bobbuttfuck87645 that no one has ever heard of.

My solution is simple, by getting in for a $10 donation (or more if someone wants) that will weed out the trash and send a gift to charity. Additionally, the sponsor of the event will get exposure. Finally, by keeping the exchange between trusted members that know each other through business makes it that much more personal and enjoyable. all you want. The idea is solid.

I will have to really think about this one. I like it. I will put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with. Of course the wise Lensman will have to approve and will more than likely have great suggestions for this!
