So i ate glass today

11-06-2007, 04:54 PM

I made some potatoes and chicken and sause. After the first bite i already noticed really small crunchy bits which i figured was sand from the potatoes. A little sand can't hurt so i kept eating. After eating half of it i saw something on the plate. Picked up it and it was a tiny piece of glass. Turned out the plate was full of it.

No clue where it came from but my guess is it was in the sause (which came from a bottle).

Uhm, seriously, I'm no doctor, but: You should go to the hospital.

I'm pretty damn sure glass grit can cut into your intestines causing hundreds (thousands?) of wounds, and you can quickly end up with a potentially life threatening infection.

Hrm, actually, I don't know. I can't imagine it's healthy.

The only thing I can really find online is about pets eating ground up glass, as apparently it's not something people do very often.

Several people mention their vets had the animals eat cotton balls?

I woulda gone to the hospital the moment I noticed, man... that stuff wont digest at all.

I'm sure time will heal all wounds, but your insides are gonna be torn to shit for awhile... especially at places like your ileocecal valve and sphincters. If you don't have hemorrhoids already, expect them.

I would be careful, rumor has it minusonebit was spotted earlier today in Amsterdam. He probably was able to sneak some glass into your meal without you knowing.
