Internet censorship and the adult industry...

If google starts giving into different national demands for censorship (ie., porno) -- it's not going to help. It's just going to open up a whole new can of worms via the underground. The larger the underground gets, the worse for us. When I say underground I mean illegal bit torrents, p2p, etc. and the more easy it will be for newbs to access them. The only real effect this will have is a slight damage to several economies.

You can distribute pretty much anything via bit torrents and any other "undeground" method of piracy -- the more surfers going that direction could actually have awful consequences. They say that some of this censorship is to protect children? How about forcing this kind of "niche" into the underground where there is no legal control over c.p. or anything like that -- everything is available. Instead of censorship the ultimate result will be easier access to child porn for pedophiles, real rape videos and less money for the economy. It could possibly even inspire some of those sick bastards to start producing their own films to share with the world.

Basically by banning legal content they will be unwittingly providing access to worse, probably illegal content as a result of their efforts.

The major flaw in politics is that there's too many idiots. A lot of people in charge today are just as dangerous as a retard pointing a loaded shot gun at your head.

Prohibition is big business, by putting people like you & me out of business, they create thousands of new jobs with the new "internet police force".

Just look at the war on drugs....trust me, their will be a new department of "morality & community decency" very soon

Watch out guys, here comes the MCD!

And, many are yes-people hypocrits who cater to the right-wing radicals who also enjoy our products in private but disavow them in public!

And then they'll create an artificially high price for porn, and bingo, there will still be a market for it. If people as a whole want something, they're going to get it, and the government isn't going to be able to stop it. The perfect example? $100B worth of cocaine is sold on the streets of the United States alone, every year. Yeah, that prohibition worked very well.

                true. good post

porn is big business for both parties - the people that are all for it and the people that are "against" it. Against is in quotation marks, because the people that are against porn are all hypocrites. Every one of them.

My fearless forecast: Censorship in the internet wil take decades before it can be finally executed. Who could ever control the world wide web?

We don't see it get any closer... it might take another 5-10 years before we start seeing minor changes. but that's still not good...

they'll ban porn right after they cure cancer and AIDS. there's too much money in the "fight." i agree that both sides benefit from the debate, so why would it stop? porn has only gone more and more mainstream.......
