24 hours isn't terrible. In my eperience once I get past 36 hours I start hearing and seeing things. That's when it's time to hit the sack. I once went pretty close to 48 hours. Interesting thing is, I needed only about 8 hours of sleep to get back to normal.
Sleep deprivation really sux... I just recently went for close to a month with at most 2 hours sleep a night if I was lucky, most nights with none at all. I was coming off of a long bout of prescription pain meds that I have to take periodically due to a chronic ailment. There is usually some insomnia that follows but never for that lenght of time. Most of the time it's 1 week or just over and then back to normal again. This time though it was goin on a month and I was starting to get all buggy. Insomnia in itself can be a very troublesome condition, I felt like I was just going through the motions of daily life almost like I was watching myself in a movie, it can really fuck with you.
24 hours with no sleep is nothing, ive done it so many times... mainly because i am a procrastinater and spent the night before studying for a final exam in college.
the worst part is the hallucinations after about hour #30
the most ive ever stayed up for is over 48 hours. never took any illegal drugs during it, was was a mess and slept for almost a day straight.
