Sony PSP Watch Out!! Microsoft "XPOD" In The Works!

    Coming soon, the Microsoft xPod:

And sometimes the new enemies are old enemies: Microsoft reportedly is considering a portable version of its popular Xbox videogame console. In addition to playing games, the device -- call it the "xPod" -- would play music and video, too, putting Microsoft in direct competition with Apple's iPod business, as well as Sony's PlayStation Portable. Microsoft would also be competing with current partners like Creative Technology and iRiver, which currently use Microsoft technology in their players.

Microsoft needs to learn a thing or two on when to enter the market.
It allways seems like they try to prove a point when releasing something.

I can't believe that such things are really a surprise to people.

Microsoft Portable was on the charts about 2 years ago as Sony began circulating PSP concepts on the drafting table.

Good, this is good fucking news for the portable market. Apple's ipod is proprietery as hell for media, the PSP costly as fuck to use for media due to the mem format and the nintendo, well come on, the 80's called and want their graphics and lack of media playing back!

Microsoft seems to use fairly standard formarts and platforms for everything it seems to build lately hardware wise so one could imagine how useful the Xpod would actually be.

          I totally concur.
However do not forget the PSP runs on nothing more than a Linux variant.
Well that Varient has all kinds of SONY freaks in it so it is deheveled more or less into a bastard Linux like so many other code geeks have created.

One can certainly expect Microsoft's Portable be the most cross platform friendly regarding various media types. I for one am quite certain of it.

The PSP is awesome, it's like watching an HD tv on a much smaller scale. It's going to take something amazing to beat it.

It hasn't even been confirmed to be a reality. It's just a report.
