everyone fucks up once in awhile - its how the fuck up is handled is what matters most.
all this talk of blacklists on either side is a fucking joke because everyone would/could be on it in one way, shape or form.
do your homework before entering into a contract..

Only extreme cases will be listed. If you just act bad against a designer, there's no way your case will be published. We're not drama queens like most others ya knowOriginally posted by jonesyeveryone fucks up once in awhile - its how the fuck up is handled is what matters most.

non payment for services redered no matter the amount is enough to be on any blacklist..

Non payment is not always in the same case. Sometimes clients just waste any designers time, it's not like ANYONE that did ANYTHING BAD will be listed here.Originally posted by jonesywhats considered extreme and the criteria?

I think that you're going to have big problems with determining whom to list, how to "investigate", how to do follow-ups on the case, etc.
If you make such a list "public", how are you going to determine the credibility of the dozens of designers who'd like to badmouth a customer?
I'd never turn down a customer based on some "blacklist" run by people I don't know.
The same goes for a "designer blacklist" run by John Doe, btw.
There are many, many ways you can protect yourself from clients who you call "pain in the ass" - here's a small hint: get it all covered EXTENSIVELY prior to taking the job. I've always done that and I always got paid and I got into a "pain in the ass" client only once and even then, we managed to fix it all without going to GFY or adding one another to some "blacklist".Comment

So you are basically saying that companies that 'bitch" will be exposed, ICQ logs published etc.?Originally posted by JamesKOnly extreme cases will be published. If you rarely bitch about things then there's NO chance you will be listed on it
Ok, so will you publishing a list of all desigers participating because I for one will not be using any of them
Do I bitch, yep, sometimes I do. Most of the time it is for things like missed deadlines. People are hiring a designer for a service, a designer is paid to produce. Now obviously there are going to be disagreements, misunderstanding and sometimes things just do not go right....but if I am going to hire someone, I'll be damned if I feel I have to pussy foot around them and accept whatever shit they throw at me because I'm afraid I might show up on some damn list.
So whatever list YOU have of designers participating, I will get ahold of it and use it as a guide of who NOT to hire...and trust me...I get a TON of design work done.Comment

Trust me on this.
In circulation in the underground such information can be found but to make a site whose sole purpose is to discredit or claim or even document issues against a company especially ones in the Us becomes subject to serious legal battles.
You got no idea what you are up against.
I rather see you just designing tours for what they are and filtering clients, or generating traffic and making sales.
There is no reason to stand out and have others work you out of the business.
Dam! at least someone sensible that pointed this to the reality. Not sure in the US, but lots of countries have really strict laws about privacy.

I was drunk when I wrote that so I couldn't get the right words out of my mouth.Originally posted by wyldblyssOk, so will you publishing a list of all desigers participating because I for one will not be using any of them
A lot of clients bitch. It's not about just bitching. If you read the whole thread you'll know what I mean.
If you don't want to use the designers that participate on this project just because they publish scammers and deadbeat clients (that's really not just bitching, but clients that waste designers time constantly).
I do understand if some clients might not understand what I'm talking about. You have to be a designer yourself to experience this problem.Comment

I read almost all thread, but I only replayed his message because i think he said something really sensible. I cant say about US because i dont live there, but make public personal info about clients with out their authorization is illegal in a lot of countries.Originally posted by JamesKDid you read the whole thread or just stop reading at AlienQ's post?
