          I find the best way is double scanning. Once with Ad Aware and once with SpyBot Search & Destroy. They both find things that the other misses.

                                      Not free but free trials and will get rid of your problems.

                                      prevx.com will prevent any program from starting unless you've given it permission but also scans system.

                                      ewido will always work as free but not real time protection and no auto updates unless you buy.

                                          Heyyyy, I was thinking of making a thread like this today. But I didn't for some reason. However, I think Microsoft Antispyware is a good one. But it's hard to get if you dont have a legal copy of XP.
