We had a cat that started to disappear for days on end when she was 18 years old. We just figured she'd gone off of to die. But low and behold, she'd show up on the back deck one morning soon after. At one point we didn't see her for almost 4 weeks.

Could be anywhere... someone might think he is homeless and is feeding and letting him in at night. My cat got stuck in a tree for a few days, could hear the cat meowing but had no idea where it was... a few days later showed up at the garage door. A lot of times people will let a cat in thinking its abandoned or homeless, and they will keep it inside and the cat just has to wait to escape. I'd say get a GPS tracker for it and just follow it everywhere annoying it.

day 5 he's still not back and he's neutered so its not female cats.

I don't think anyone was feeding him either because when he came back after the first 3 days he was gone he ate 2 full bowls of food. He would not have been that hungry if he was being fed.

And he isn't the type of cat to go up to strange people.

I had a full grown cat (nasty fucker) show up on my farm and lived with us for two years. Disappeared for around six months, returned skinny and stayed for another year or so. Then he left for three months, came back for about six months then left again.

That was three years ago and I've since moved but wouldn't be surprised if the ornery thing showed up anyway. Cats are weird. My dog doesn't miss him at all.

Yeah, my cat used to do that when he was younger. Just be sure to keep his food and water bowl filled. Even if he is neautered he still likes to go out and socialize with other cats.

He came back. Then left again. Was gone for about 3 days. Came back again. Then left. Now he's been gone for about 6 days. I have a feeling this time he's not coming back.. strange

This behavior just happened all of a sudden.. within the last 2 weeks.. He would always come on the porch at least once a day..

He'll be back - my cat started doing this when he was about 3 years old - sometimes it was for a week sometimes longer, but he always came back for a little while - good luck!
