    Well-known BDSM/fetish photographer has died

    We just received word earlier today - and although it hasn't been reported to any news services - but well-known bondage & fetish photographer 'Derek Barker' was killed recently over in Iraq. His death has been confirmed by his son Joe in a Yahoo group posting. No details concerning his death have been made available at this time.

    'Derek Barker' is a pseudonym he used online.

    Those of us oldtimers in the BDSM/fetish community knew of Derek's work for years - and he was considered a prolific and respected member of the community. His passing is a loss to us all.

          Unknown. The only statement his son made regarding this was, "There are other branches of government/civilian service that do not list their casualties on CNN."

          He didn't say if his father was serving or civilian.

                  Well, if he was there as a civilian contractor, the details usually post here.

                  U.S. & Coalition/Casualties are here.

                  However I don't expect to find any real information above.

                                                                              Never met the man, no. But I've been familiar with his work for the last 6-7 years though. Cliche as it is to say - he was somewhat of a household name in the online bondage community. He'd worked with quite a number of well-known pro bondage & fetish models over the years, and since I never heard any negative comments I'd assume he worked well with his models.

                                                                              His stuff would show up from time to time on usenet (abpeb) - his pics were often sought-after by collectors.
