Do you network multiple computers thru a wireless router?

Is just me or networking thru wireless sucks?
Sometime, I see the shared devices on the other computer and other time I don't see it.
    Is that normal?

yes, that shit happens to me ALL the time on XP...it fucking sucks

i will be in the middle of a file transfer between 2 wireless computers, through my router, and it will lose connectivity....when I go into the network neighborhood, everything is gone, then reappears

I don't like wireless, the idea that my data can be picked up over air waves makes me uneasy, even if its convenient. Screw it, give me cables and wires anyday.

I was also concerned about security, but the wireless I have as a 128-bit encryption on it which I think will be hard to break, and I'm using it only in my house to share data between two computers with important data on them...

what sort of distance are trying to cover , how big is your house , brick walls or is it plasterboard , and fridge or microwave in the path

you could try getting a external antenna for the router

Ah, for a home environment, you should be ok. Around my office, hell no. Too many geeks around here could probably break into my network

Wireless is great, on my way from London to Oakville for a job I took out my laptop while my partner was driving and picked up all kinds of unsecure wireless connections so I could surf the web.. Same then when I headed to Windsor just as many unsecure networks out there its surprising.

I personally hate wireless. I always use wires. Only time wireless is convienent is when moving around my place with a laptop but thats it.

Thats all I use my wireless for is if I am moving around (in a car) or in a motel.. but at home its wires for me.

Plus at my day job I install network cabling and fiber optics for people/businesses so I usually don't suggest wireless to them

I have the same problems. I have 3 to 4 working at the same time and they cut off very frequently. At first I thought it was my router but no, it?s not.. I used to reboot it but now I just walk away for like 5 minutes and its back.

I have 5 computers and a laptop at home that all share the same wireless router (extremeG) and I have no problems at all.

You probably have weak signal, try to either boost signal from the router or attach some sort of antenna to your wireless cards.

With 128bit encryption, I would also be looking at locking down your MAC addresses so only the cards you want on the network are on the network.

We had a lot of growing pains getting everything to work properly...but as of right now, things are working good and we arent having any difficulties with the 4 or more hooked up to the wireless No one disappears and we don't have problems with file transfers.
