    I need some Fiction Recommends!

    I read books like WEB Griffin and I love psychopathic mysteries, thrillers, suspense...not big on romance (I get my fantasies filled nicely, thanks)...

    Spam me with authors and fiction books, please.

          Hi Raven,
          My suggestion is Tim Dorsey. He writes hilarious crime stories that include very colorful characters. I know you didn't mention this genre as your typical read, but i still think you would love his work.

          I am constantly awaiting his newest release..

          Very well worth the read and if you decide to give him a shot try
          Florida Roadkill first- then Hammerhead Ranch Motel.

              Hey, LauraLee...damn, I haven't seen you in forever..hope you're well....

              I go for authors like this and the one you're suggesting might be similar, so I'll definitely give it a try.

              Andrew Vachs who wrote the Burke Series. Very hardboiled and gritty.

              Robert Crais - who wrote the Elvis Costello series.

              Robert Parker - Wrote the Spenser for Hire series.

              Books like this are perfect for long ass boring plane rides.

                      Hey Raven I recently finished The Demon Plague by Joreid McFate. It was an amazing book. A real page turner. Kind of a cross between Stephen King and Anne Rice's Witching Hour trilogy with some time travel and thriller elements thrown in too! Characters were great and the book flowed from page one.

                          hmm.. it's not quite what you're after and probably far too Australian.. but I've been reading the Les Norton series about a larrikin underworld bouncer and the shit he gets up to. It starts in the 80's though so theres lots of ocker slang. The other series I've been into is the Tomorrow series by John Marsden. It's not exactly adult reading though.. we were takling about what you'd do if we were invaded in the office and one of my younger employees bought in the first of the series the next day. It's about a bunch of teens that go for a camping trip for a week and when they come back to their places all the dogs and animals are dead and houses are ransacked and basically Australia has been invaded. The lead character shits me to tears but the premise is so interesting I read the 7 books in about a week and a half, then the two books after the initial series.

                                  Have you heard of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich?

                                  I'm not a romance person either, I like a good Grisham and such ... but this series is just wonderful. It's not romance, but there is the relationship in there, but isn't there in every book?

                                  I couldn't stop reading them and I'm dying for the 12th book to come out!

                                                      Yeah, her other novels are romance and I don't read them, like I said I'm not a fan.

                                                      I had finished a book and was in NY and my mother is an avid reader of all --including romance. So, when I needed a book home for the flight, I had #1 of the Plum series and another one that more suited me. But I gave it a shot and started reading it before I left, I couldn't put it down, I grabbed the second one and took that with me instead of the other book! You literally laugh out loud.

                                                                      If you can handle the rhyming slang of the early stuff go for it!.. the Tomorrow series is a better read even though it's "young adult".

                                                                      finished the tomorrow series the other night.. into "the first casualty" by Ben Elton atm.. somewhere in the middle of the 20 odd Norton books and
                                                                      "weapons of choice" & "designated targets" by John Birmingham are up next.. The titles sound really Clancyish i know.. but this is the guy who wrote "he died with a falafel in his hand" & "dope" so im expecting them to be pretty decent.. some near future military time experiment goes wrong and sends a bunch of hi tech military shit and helicopters back to WW2 and they blow the shit out of the Germans but open themselves up for massive problems with timespace etc.

                                                                                                                  I have trouble reading dog books.....Old Yeller did me in years ago...I don't mind humans getting hurt or feeling bad..but, puppies and animals? Just can't stand it. Makes me cry.

                                                                                                                  I really like Connelly; but, Sandford, who used to be one of my faves, simply doesn't do it for me anymore. I don't remember which 'Prey' book did it..but I found I couldn't read him anymore.

                                                                                                                              LOL...yes she is. The Eve Dallas books are similar. I was a little worried about them when I found out they take place in the future....don't like sci-fi books. But the books are not about weird futuristic stuff. The only reason the future comes into it, is they have cooler gadgets.

                                                                                                                                                      MacDaddyPlaya.....The Lincoln Lawyer - Connelly - How did I miss that one? I read Connelly all the time. I love the Bosch series.

                                                                                                                                                      26MLR....I agree about Cussler....even the movie, Sahara didn't revive my interest. I stopped reading him a while ago....Love the earlier ones, though.

                                                                                                                                                      As I sais, Cyn, Sandford used to be on the top of my list and then I just couldn't read him anymore. The same thing happened with Patterson, who, in my opinion, tapped himself out after Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider....

                                                                                                                                                          there are over 57K known mistakes in the scriptures due to deliberate change, translation errors as well as just common mistakes. . . Several of the verses are known to have been added after the fact as well . . . Then it's also pointed out that the gospels of Mathew and Luke are just copies off mark, re -written. Wtf up with that?
