    Just Bought The Hvx200 Ouch!!!

    I JUST GOT THE HVX 200 for 5k now I have to buy P2 cards to shoot with. Now I have to spend 4k for 1 hour of recording time. At least I will never have to capture or use tape again! This really hurt my bank account HIRE ME TO SHOOT FOR YOU SO I CAN RECOUP!!!

                      I shoot with that camera too, and you can still shoot tape. But don't buy the cards if they cost you 4k, just buy a 100 gig FireStore for 1700. Saves you 2300 bucks and you can store a lot more content.

                                      uf yoiu want to shoot in sd or DVCPRO 25 you can go directly to tape ,,, that camera has the same ccds as the DVX 100 ... So go ahead and shoot all you want sans P2 Cards ..

                                      Also if you have a Mac with FCP HD ..you can 1394 your camera to the pc/laptop a record directly to Hard Drive ..

                                      Lastly your other option is as mentioned above .. FS 100 . you can find them for just under 2000$ now a days ...

                                      I'd say to payed a wee bit too much for that HVX200 .. I know someone that sold his for under 4000$

                                                  I have wanted one of these but flinched due to the ability to archive original captures... It's damn expensive when you have to blu-ray or do external HD for archiving.
