I used to fly exclusively into LAX, but after I discovered most of my shoots were closer to Burbank (and I can rear exit the plane on SWA), I am another Ex-LAX flyer...wait, that didn't come out as I expected (ewww, a triple double entendre).
Last time I flew out of LAX I waited in a check in line for 30 mins, then an X-ray line for another 30 mins, then a security line for well OVER an hour!!!!
Thank God I showed up 3 hours in advance because I had to sprint to gate to make it before it closed!

FUCK LAX!!!!
Let me see:
1. LAX - 15 minutes away. Burbank 90.
2. I fly out of LAX about once a month. Typically have the cab pick me up at 5 AM. Plane boards at 6 AM. I have time to get my boots shined while there, or jump on my laptop and d/l mail before boarding. This means I get thru security and to my gate in about 20 minutes, tops.
3. When I flew to Amsterdam a few weeks ago my travel agent dad insisted that I had to get there two hours ahead of time. I spent an hour on GFY while I waited to board.
If you are flying out on a holiday weekend your times may vary.
to webmaster access from burbank airportis maybe 15 minutes taxi or 25 bucks max. from lax you are looking at tons of traffic and maybe 90 -120 dollars taxi.
Most of the international flights are only convenient to LAX for timing. Personally I like LAX, it's close to my house, rarely have to wait in line for anything (especially with all the kiosk check-ins)
Anyone coming down from SFO, try Virgin America into LAX, you won't be sorry.
