I Just Found Out Where the Wasps Have Been Coming From...

For the last few weeks, I have finding wasps in the house constantly. I keep killing them and more come. So I am sitting here reading a book, and I hear this little thump come from the fireplace, followed shortly by another one. A couple seconds later, I see a wasp sitting on the hearth of my fireplace. So I go over, open the screen and sure enough there are a couple of the little fuckers in laying there. Haven't used the fireplace all summer, so they must have built a nest up in the chimney somewhere.

And slowly, a plan begins to form in my evil little mind. I go get a couple of matches, light them and blow them out, holding the smoking ends in the flue opening, watching the smoke to make sure it goes up, otherwise, my plan could backfire in a real hurry if there was no draft and they managed to block my chimney up completely. But there was a draft and a decent one at that. So I began filling the fireplace with all kinds of paper. Couple of shipping boxes, lots of junk mail, some IRS papers (opps, did I say that out loud?) and a few pieces of pine pallet. Then for good measure, a very small amount of kerosene. Then I lit the match and off she went with a belch of black smoke and a whoosh, burned vigorously and quite hot for about 10 minutes, so hot I couldn't even stand right in front of the fire place, then it died down and has since mostly went out. I don't think there will be any more wasps now.

Few problems exist that cant be solved with the application of a little Kerosene on some tax records and a touch of fire.
