You're not very bright, are you? The breakers for most central AC is usually two 30 AMPs, same with an electric furnace, same with a range. You could prolly plug 50 lamps into a 15 amp outlet and still not blow the breaker. You can run two 800 watt space heaters off one outlet and not blow the breaker.Comment

OMFG this thread was entertainingJust get a 1/2" piece of copper pipe and hammer down the ends flat. and bend it a bit so it will fit in the slots. Then simply plug it into where the meter was. Dont worry about getting shocked. The electric flow will only pass "through" the pipe and not into your hands. Just grasp it firmly and push it in. There you go full power for free.

But yeah, the power company doesn't fuck around. I called in to cancel saying I couldn't afford it so that I could possibly get a cheaper rate and the fuckers came out and shut me down the same day. And, then required a hefty deposit to reconnect me since I said I couldn't afford it.
Moral of the story: Don't fuck with utlity companies

For those that are interested, divide the watt value of all the appliances on a circuit by the voltage in your area (120 in US, 230 or 240 in europe) and that will give you the maximum current on that circuit. You're not very bright, are you? The breakers for most central AC is usually two 30 AMPs, same with an electric furnace, same with a range. You could prolly plug 50 lamps into a 15 amp outlet and still not blow the breaker. Then make sure your circuit breaker/fuse is rated at least 20% more than that value.
As a general rule of thumb (remember it's a rule and can change if your wiring is very long)
For 1.5mm2 wires that pass through a wall, never pass more than 10A through them
For 2.5mm2 wires that pass through a wall, never pass more than 16A through them

And it's very very easy to steal electricity.
What's more difficult is to tap electricity - that is, leave a few basic circuits on the main metered circuit so as to have a 'normal' bill, but have the big consumers on a tapped unmetered circuit.

Thats why I miss the county. Hell, out there, no one would notice if you climbed up the pole in the middle of the night and connected your cable. Here, they'd have 10 calls into the cops before I even put the ladder up to the pole. In the country, one could actually make a tap relatively easily, esp. if the wires between your meter and the pole (the service drop) was buried underground, and that part of the wire was in your back yard. Most states even have a number you can call and they'll come out and mark the location of the wires for you, then all you have to do is (carefully) dig them up and then (very carefully) splice your connection in and put in an underground junction box.Comment

I still don't get how you are able to power all that through a light socket and a couple extension cords. There is just no way you haven't blown it out by now.Comment

Replacement of the energy distribution panel was done today to enhance safety and to provide for additional capacity. This one has a breaker that will pop if the load is too high, which happens if both heaters are on, the fridge is running and the laser printer tries to print something.Comment

Ok so you had a problem with your bill being sent to the wrong address.. that part I understand and the part were you get to find out that the outside lights were being paid for by you and that the HOA was getting anyone in unit #3 to pay the extra bill... that part I dont get is how you think its ok to steal from who ever is paying for your lights in your storage closet.

Clearly, you're the authority. When they see the facts behind Saddam's "fake" hanging, the world will accept your interpretations of the law as fact as well.
It will be a minusonebit universe.
Holy hell, why does OC-3 allow you to keep that sig while spewing such crazy nonsense?

I pay for cable once when I watch the advertisements. I should not have to pay for it again. Remember how cable was sold to the American public as the advertisement-free medium for entertainment when it was started, much like satellite radio is today? Back then, when it was ad-free, I did pay for my cable. These days, if it is accidentally left on when I move into a place, I am in no hurry to call the cable company and inform them of the mistake.
Oh yeah, and this Classic Minusonebit Thread deserves a bump.Comment

You know, you really should read the links you provide. An example would be when you suggested that seatbelts were medical devices. Herein lies another.
From your reliance:
Title 31 (Money and Finance), Subtitle IV (Money), Chapter 51 (Coins and Currency), Subchapter I (Monetary System), Section 5103 (Legal Tender) of the United States Code states:
United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues. Foreign gold or silver coins are not legal tender for debts.
What this statute means, in the words of the United States Treasury, is that "[A]ll United States money . . . is a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal law mandating that a person or organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services."
That's it. All this means is that the Federal Reserve System must honor U.S. currency and coins, not necessarily anyone else. U.S. currency and coins can be used for making payments, but a debtor does not have to pay in legal tender, nor does a creditor have to accept legal tender.
However, even in cases where legal tender has been agreed to as a form of payment, private businesses are still free to specify which forms of legal tender they will accept. If a restaurant doesn't want to take any currency larger than $20 bills, or they don't want to take pennies at all, or they want to be paid in nothing but dimes, they're entitled to do so (but, as mentioned earlier, they should specify their payment policies before entering into transactions with buyers). Businesses are free to accept or reject pennies as they see fit; no law specifies that pennies cease to be considered legal tender when proffered in quantities over a particular amount.
Good catch!

So, I would like to offer a great big, huge FUCK YOU to both the power company and the HOA. Both of you are going to get whats coming to you. The HOA is gonna have some very angry condo owners soon, as I went to the next building over, and with the permission of the owner of that unit, threw his main breaker and sure enough the whole front of his building went dark. So the HOA is making the person in Unit 3 of every building pay for the "community" lights which we all also pay an HOA assessment for. Pretty damn slick. But the secret is out now and I am going to make sure the whole complex knows our HOA is screwing us over.
That's fucking insane. I wonder how long they've been doing it?Give me money & buy my links here, damn it!Comment
