Good thing these guys transcend all forms of categorized music.
They can attest/single handedly justify Rock's placement in history.
Be it musically or culturally, it's had a significant impact (rock).
Much of the sampling for hiphop, aside from amazing 70's funk/soul songs, comes from... kanye west. Joke... comes from classic rock. Even fight the power Public Enemy used a Buffalo Springfield song, amongst the hundreds of other artists who have used 1000+ additional rock-oriented samples. Shit- Lupe Fiasco recently did it with 'Daydreaming'. Entire catchy ass hook, just talk between the chorus moderately fast and you've a hit.
Classic/Rock in general has to be one of the more "universally" (yes everything is subjectively preferential) accepted forms of music- cannot say "best", as how would quantify/amass such a figure. If on a technical scale, classical music perhaps is the most progressive/complicated. Even withstanding this fact- complication doesn't correlate with genius. Classical music can have bad songs as any genre? So perhaps Rock is not the best...but in a poll with people raised in Western society, conditioned/limited to the music we have, notes/sounds already provided & how they're provided (arranged)- you will find the majority (who gives a shit, really) lean towards rock music. The sounds are very accessible upon first listen and too melodic for the most part. Naturally soothing to the ears "imo".
