I just booked a 53 day trip through Africa

Im also trying to get a satelite phone so I can keep a blog, but they are seriously expensive.

What kinda security will you have?

i'm guessing the trip you're taking goes through places just as dangerous as the "real jamaica" ? like the non touristy areas

cause if so, i'd do your homework before going

That is part of the thrill - from what I have read so far Nigeria is the scariest place.

I have done trips in SE Asia that are a bit like that, its never as bad as you think. I remember meeting a cop in Cambodia that I thought was going to kill me. A few hours later I was having dinner with his family - Pit Bull never tasted so good.

BTW I woke up about 3am and remembered that I was meant to do a 404 page for you - like a month ago. Ill get it done today.

cops in cambodia/thailand/etc won't touch you, because the generals would shoot them in the head for fucking with tourists

tourism is a huge part of their economy, so they won't fuck with tourists...

cops, that is...

but in africa, i wouldn't be as lax as you are being regarding the security thing... i know it's "part of the thrill" but those people don't have much to live for, and robbing you would be like winning the lottery (2 cents)

Sounds like a great adventure. But, roughing it through all those places where people hack up other people with machetes and don't think twice about it? I think a satellite phone (and a gun!) should be in your budget.

Just curious, if in danger, who will you call, and how would you tell them where you are?
