PC drive cleaning utilities? Any that are free?

I'm looking to find something that can wipe my drives clean (CLEAN!)... i see a bunch of utilities that you have to pay for... is there anything out there that is freeware that works just as good?

Company I worked at long ago use to use the format c: deal, basically they had a preset install they just cloned over to the machines. So if the users fucked their machines up with junk, they just came in and did a wipe and reinstall... after all, they weren't suppose to store any files on the their own HD, only on the network stoage appliance.

Those free utilities can cause problems removing shit from other programs making them buggy or don't open at all..avoid them

Check your drive's manufacturer for support.
Performing a low lever format totally wipes out the drive without
                                    the possibility of recovery.
