Electronics marketing hasn't changed a bit. New products are priced way to high in the beginning and drop price within a year or two.
I was a VHS guy myself. Sony price Betamax out of the market and VHS became the most widely used format... back when you only had 2 choices.
Notice the Cut $110 in the top right... price wars!!
