Then someone needs to talk to my optometrist. the guy told me to be I had to multiply by two the size of my monitor to calculte the distance I should be away from it; and for a TV, i had to multiply by 3!Originally posted by JakeYeah but I thought that only applied to TV's?

Probably. Neither Dell nor Apple manufacture their own LCD panels, and Samsung does make 30" panels with similar sounding specs (google LTM300M1 for Samsung's specs). Companies like Samsung, Fujitsu, and Matsushita produce OEM components which they may or may not use in their own consumer products. Apple has had their 30" screen out for a couple years, and could probably market it more effectively, and pay Samsung more than Samsung could generate producing their own 30" monitors.Originally posted by jeffreylooking at samsung I cant see any monitor that looks like the dells, I cant even find a 24 or 30" monitor.
Maybe I just suck at looking.... But I think you mean they use samsung technologies?Comment

I think that's an LCD panel *for* a monitor, not a monitor itself. Meaning it has no case, lighting, power supply, PC interface, etc.Originally posted by quantum-xhttp://samsung.com/Products/TFTLCD/M...1/LTM300M1.htm 30"

i got the 24" next to the 20" widescreen dell myself... the 24" is A LOT of desktop already.
personally i think the 30" is too big for a PC screen. now if that was a 30" LCD TV... it could be used for other things.
but as it is, these are just PC LCDs.. the best quality input on these is the DVI port, but it is content protected (HDCP)... you wont be able to input via DVI-out DVD player or something. I only know of the samsung firmware hack that will allow a few samsung DVD players to do so.Comment
