Question about digital cameras and memory cards

Do they start to "wear out" after a certain amount of usage, or can you just keep deleting and using them over again with no decline in quality?

Should you put them in a card reader and defrag or do a scan disk on them? Any maintenance at all?

Watch, I'll jinx myself now, but my digicam has been good.

The only thing wrong was a broken LCD screen which I replaced easily.
