Best bet is probably going to be replacing the video card with a more modern one. It doesn't have to be top-of-the-line or anything, just something that will support multi-display (extended desktop).

Most likely if it's an emachines box, it doesn't even have a video card, only onboard video. If this is the case, you only need to purchase a cheap card to throw in and plug the 2nd monitor into.
