    Canuck cig smokers inside, please

    Recently my wife and I switched our longtime brand of smokes from DuMaurier to Peter Jackson's (both made by Imperial Tobacco, though)...mostly because we've found the Peter Jackson smokes are more than $10/carton cheaper at the stores.

    Just wondering how they can sell a brand at different prices when they're all supposedly gov't regulated?

    Anyone else switched brands recently because of pricing or whatnot?

      Probably the reason is nobody smokes Peter Jackson and they are trying to flog them off..I smoke Craven A..almost 9 bucks a pack here

          Hmm...that could be the reason, yeah. My wife thinks Jackson's aren't a 'premium' tobacco as well.

          I don't mind'em, though. They agree with my buds. Kinda' surprising, since I've smoked DuMaurier for more than 25 years.

              I used to smoke Players light, but switched to Canadian Classics cause they are much cheaper. Don't seem to notice much difference between the 2 except the $3 savings

                  Been lucky in PA. It's stayed around $3.50 for years.

                      We switched about 2 years ago when Petro-Canada used to have a deal of 2 pack for $10.58 (taxes in) whereas DuMauriers were at $12.something - Never went back. DuMaurier was highly marketed. From employees of IT, it's all the same - so long as the ingredients are the same, it's the same tobacco - only difference is the branding/packaging.

                          Well, the one good aspect we've found about Imperial Tobacco is they're never hymie when you send'em a complaint about a bad carton. My wife's done that a few times over the years - the first time they shipped us six cartons (yes, cartons). The second time was three cartons. Last time was only a replacement carton. But still, that was cool. All we had to do was send them one of the packages in the envelope they provided.

                          Just wish these damn prices would drop again soon. We're back to those levels from a few years back when everyone was cross-border smugglin' and buying from the native reserves.

                              I'm a DuMaurier Light smoker but dayum, at $10 a pack I switched back to buying cans of tobacco. Such a huge difference taste and price wise. They smoke faster and are more dry on the throat when rolling. Ah well. worth the $5.50 a pack savings

                                  I smoke John Players special , and pay like $9.50 a pack x2 a day .. I really wanna quit but fear I might murder someone .

                                  Lately I've been buyin indian smokes at $20 a carton when I'm tight on cash , but usually I stick to my brand .

                                      Yeah, my wife has a contact through work for reserve smokes at $20/carton. Might give'em a try.

                                              peter jackson tabacco is cheaper cuz its all scrapings off the floor haha.

                                              and i swear they could sell Peter Jackon's ciggarettes more efficiently if they put golum on the cover ;)
