I couldn't agree with that statement more... and hopefully, it'll be addressed in the future.
I don't think it's out of the question to argue that some of the items brought up as "facts" by Al Gore might not be as matter-of-fact as they were presented in his film, but - though that film and through a career of like-minded actions - he's done the job of raising general awareness of an issue that faces us all, and that of our children, and our children's children, and could severely impact our ability to be a peaceful species in the future.
I think it's for that reason that the Nobel Committee decided to award him the Medal.
I, as it seems the people quoted in that article do, look forward to the day that people stop insisting that we have no impact on our environment, but instead, raise the discussion to a higher level and discuss questions like: "what degree of negative impact do we have on our environment, and what can we do to help lessen what impact that we all agree we do have?"
