What Video Camera Should I Buy?

Looking to spend between $250-$500 US. (That's 178-356 Euros). I might spend a tad more if there's enough reason to do so.

What camera? What brand? What kind of storage, miniDVD or something else?

I suppose I might need an extra external microphone, right? Any other peripherals do you think?

End publication: Videos will be made for the Internet (aka website publication and possibly download). Might also want to put them on CDs or DVD too.

What filming: Initial videos will be of me cooking. (Really, I do. And do well. Check out http://www.cooking-at-home.com to see.) Later might do some miscellaneous vids about Mainstream Ecommerce and upload to YouTube for traffic.

So it's mainly on a person sitting directly in front of the camera talking, as in a seminar or teaching vid, and also someone moving about a kitchen with the camera set up on a tripod or possibly a videographer (camera person) moving about capturing the action. Will also be taking camera "on the street" to film in markets, stores, etc.

Really do need some good recommendations! Thanks!
