His webpage is ugly, and I don't see how it can be usefull for an advertiser to buy a spot there.

Agreed, to a point. He definitely doesn't seem web savvy, and I think that this is why he was successful. Read his blog entries - he plays off as a regular student who is not a brilliant programmer nor web interpreneur, and media loves these kind of "get quickly rich on the intraweb" stories.Originally posted by Paraskass

He did it so well that online newspapers worldwide, from chinese to russian, were writing articles about him and his little page. Even wall street journal caught on, and he went on a short publicity tour to the US.

It was a well calculated campaign placing the school kid and his page in the media for the past 4 months.
There are now thousands of copy cat sites using search engines link trades, google adwords and other marketing methods,,, AND NONE OF THEM HAVE SOLD SHIT.Comment
