Who runs a surfer forum? got a question...

I'd like to ask you how you legally and ethically provide video and picture content to your forum members. I have a few forums and I'm trying to work out how to integrate it.

I started a thread over a week ago about surfers uploading their own pics and the consensus was not to do it - too many legal problems.

I don't want to encourage bandwidth theft or the use of copyrighted content. I just want to add a little extra spice to the forums.

One solution, I guess, is to post galleries and videos myself - either ones I've bought or fhgs from sponsors.

Another solution is to allow submission much like a tgp.

    What do you suggest?

I use hosted galleries or make my own pic/movie posts with content I own or have permission to use. A good way to get your affiliate account deleted is to allow surfers to post movies on your forum that they uploaded to Rapidshare or the like. It happened to me.

So as not to get into any legal battles or piss anyone off...post pics and movies yourself and moderate the hell out of it if you're going to allow others to post.

                    You could moderate it heavily?

Or just deny pics and let them post links only...

Sound advice guys. Thinking about what you've said I think really the safest option is for me to create separate forums and just post them myself. I notice a lot of forums where surfers can upload pretty much anything they like. I don't agree with that and policing it would be a fucking nightmare, life's too short.

So ya, maybe post my own stuff.
