Meh... worse things have been done in the name of religion.
The procedure was relatively harmless, and the idea of whether or not there are health benefits derived from circumcision is debated among healthcare professionals even today... and considering most in the society I was born into felt there was a health benefit to be derived from the action - I can't blame my parents for opting to have it done to me then, as opposed to later, when the cost and emotional consequences would have been greater.
Besides, I've heard plenty of women say they prefer a circumcised penis. I've heard very few say that they prefer the foreskin still in tact.
