    Is True.com about to close or be sold?

    Interesting article saying they owe millions in advertising they cannot pay right now. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/0...sing-partners/

    The talk of money problems at True.com does not surprise at least one watcher of the online dating industry. Mark Brooks is the editor of Online Personals Watch and was a consultant to True.com in the past. He said people in the industry had told him that as of a few weeks ago, True was looking at ?considerable? seven-figure advertising bills from several major Internet sites.

          My sister is one of the Directors of Marketing over at Myspace and True.com is one of her clients. She claims that they do owe quite a bit of money and that there was talk of them shutting down...but nothing has been set in stone yet.
          They would rather try and sell, but they apparently have way too much baggage that will come with buying the company and it would be a bad deal.
          I dont know how much of this is true, but my sister is usually pretty on top of this stuff.

              They were one of the reasons PPC for dating went thru the roof. Be interesting to see what happens.

                      Got any more sources into this? I promote them quite heavily through a few programs and would like to make sure I get paid... Guess the days of paying $5/lead with them was too good to be true...

                          you just ratted out your sister for doing/saying things that are probably quite illegal under contracts with true.com & non disclosure contracts with myspace.com

                              True is the biggest piece of shit site in the dating world, pissed off tricked members, fake emails, VERY hard to cancel a paying account, lots of been reported about them in the mainstream media, that with their nonstop adverts on places like myspace... yeah I'm not suprised

                                      I didnt think I was ratting anyone out...these are just things she has heard at work. I dont know that any of this a big secret. I was under the impression people were already aware of this.
                                      Oh well...I was just trying to offer something to the conversation, no harm done.
