About the same time I met Ashley here off GFY another photog I'd never seen post on here posted - I always click on threads involving content - so I peeked in on the thread. The photog posted some pics of a couple of girls and was asking if anybody was interested in custom content. One of the girls was very fresh and pretty and the photography looked decent too. I read the thread and noticed a few people replying and I could see already that the people weren't going to be helping him and probably screwing him. So I told him to hit me up on ICQ and we chatted about who he was, what his experience was and what were people who did hit him up saying to him and offering him. Photogs are impulsive and usually desperate - for cash - because most like i said are struggling when they get into this business. He had already made a deal for a solo girl site with the fresh pretty model and some deal with another guy i knew was going to buy his other content for next to nothing and just whore it out here on GFY. I told him to slow down - not to agree to anything until I had time to see who these people were and to look at his content. I liked him - unlike most of the photogs i talk to he was listening and trying to absorb what i was telling him, and trusting me. I pulled him out of the solo girl site deal cuz that was going absolutely nowhere but to a disaster. I told him from where he was the only way he'd succeed in this biz is finding more girls like the one he had posted - I introduced him to ATK, Homegrown Video, Karups and I thought Nubiles but he says he already had shot a girl for Bill before he made the thread on GFY. Anyway, that photog's name is John Emslie, and he was in debt up to his eyeballs at the time from student loans - 13 years in university will do that, two useless masters degrees in theology and I think Engish Lit. John began to make some money shooting for hardcore for Homegrown, solo girl teen stuff for ATK etc. Not enough money though, he was still renovating houses to keep his head above water money wise -
recruiting cute teen girls to do nude modeling is tough, I knew there was no way that John could recruit enough girls in a city of 600,000 to make the kind of living both Brian and Marco make - only in L.A. or Prague can a photog make a good six figure living shooting for ATK/Nubiles/Karups etc. So John and I were becoming very good friends and I also figured that along the way if he did well so would I. He was also trying hard to crack the magazine market - which isn't easy either, i told him from my knowledge of the magazine biz through Hicks that he had to concentrate on the web and that the only way I could see him ever making enough to live on in this biz was through solo girl sites - and that to make it with solo girl sites he would have to find girls that were special, that stood out, that were better than the girls that ATK and Karups might take.

The progress with Ashley's site was turning into nightmare - she had started in September and in the middle of December I counted a grand total of 13 photosets and a few videos - her tour designs, all 5 of them were done, her CMS was done, her little affiliate program - but what was really important was missing - the content. I had orginally told Ashley we needed 40 photosets and 15 or so videos to launch - she seemed to be in la-la land, she got pissed off when I had the audacity to wake her up at the crack of noon one day and reamed her out - that's Ashley. Her website was supposed to just magically appear. It wasn't totally her fault but she was doing absolutely nothing to solve the problem of getting content shot. I called on my friend Marco before Christmas and asked him 'How'd you like to spend Christmas in Kansas?' I'd pay all expenses and him 500 a day, which is less than Marco makes normally. I really wanted this project done and out of my hands, and to succeed, Marco knew most of the story because we talk a lot, Marco and anybody who shoots for ATK/Karups in L.A. knows you have to shoot fast - Brian and Marco can crank out 20 sets a day no problem - John at the time was having a hard time getting 8 done. Marco agreed to fly in to Kansas and shoot Ashley for a few days - he'd easily be able to get 50 good sets and lots of video done so I told Ashley and she was typical Ashley 'That's cool, let me check my schedule calendar' - argggh - anyway I thought it was almost over until Marco called me early the next morning - he was a bit lit the night before when he agreed to go shoot Ashley, he isn't a great flyer and i could tell he was asking me to let him out of the offer, I told him he wouldn't be flying into Kansas on a prop plane but no luck. I really wanted to throw in the towel, I told Ashley to get her ass in gear and start looking around for a photographer locally. A few weeks later and still nothing done Internext in Vegas was coming and Marco was going to be there for a few days - so again I ask Marco if he can shoot Ashley in Vegas for a couple of afternoons - maybe get 20 sets - I set it all up, Marco got into Vegas and was calling me to make a schedule to shoot Ashley - and of course - Ashley flaked on both of us. If that girl had been in my vicinity at the time I would have decked her. I was done with it - I actually typed out a long post i was going to post on GFY to explain things because by now most people knew about the site and were asking why it was taking so long. I had been posting photos of Ashley for months - that's part of what I do - build up some anticipation, the way movies get hyped, that's how I approach a solo girl site, I spend a lot of time picking out the photos that I post, I only want the most flattering shots to be seen of a girl, they all have bad angles, some have tats, some have body issues. I was at my wit's end with AshleyBrookes.com - she was no longer the girl i thought she was, not deserving of any help, but I didn't want drama and part of me wanted to see if my instincts were right and she would do well. I realized she'd never get enough content shot on her own - the last bf was now out of the picture completely - so I turned to John. The reason I hadn't though of John before Marco is that John was so much slower than Marco, 8 sets a day max and maybe less - he'd have to be in Kansas for a longer time. So I asked John if he would go to Kansas and more importantly if he could promise me he could get 10 sets a day shot - I needed minimum 50 sets and lots of video - I didn't know how much this was going to cost, needed locations, hotel, food - I told John i couldn't pay him 500 a day - anyway John is a great guy and appreciative for what I had done for him and we agreed to 1000 bucks and then nothing, he was pretty much broke and trying to keep his own biz and life afloat and he agreed to go to Bumfuck, Kansas for a week and promised to come back with the required content. And he did it.

Finally it was close to being done - I wasn't going to worry now about update content - let Ashley worry about that. A month later AshleyBrookes.com and for a solo girl site it did great - people have tons of misconceptions about solo sites - they think they are all doing all these sales - they overstimate sales by at least 2 times - for every Jordan Capri there are 100 that struggle to do ONE sale a day. Sites that do 10 plus a day are not even that common. Ashley was a solid star, not a Raven or Jordan, but just below that tier, 30-45 joins a day - she was making a ton of money, she was also becoming a bit of a monster. And I was stuck - either just walk away or keep maintaining her site and talking to her affiliates - she was too big now to have to actually talk to webmasters.

I had promised John and her that I'd make them successful with 6 figure incomes and I had accomplished that - I just wanted out of it all. John was hard at work recruiting the special girls I told him he needed to - he shot his first solo girl site for Pimproll, MandysDiary, his second for Silvercash, SarahSexton, he was beginning to see some daylight ahead financially - and then Andi Pink - Andi's original test shots had been posted by me on GFY and my ICQ lit up like a Christmas tree - John for being such a great recruiter really doesn't know who is special and who isn't - he wasn't high on Andi, I was - I decided that the place for AndiPink was with Panchodog, no more cash deals, I wasn't going to give up a Mercedes for a Volkswagon price tag - we made a deal with Rico because of the people who offered deals I trusted him the most and he had the resources to make Andi successful. And it was the right decision - Andi was a star, and she's remained one for over 2 years, not a superstar but she is solid. That finally gave John some breathing room. Through Ashley's site and selling teen content for 4 years I now had relationships and some friendships with practically everybody in the solo girl niche. At one time before I had finally given up completely on Ashley I thought I would find a girl of my own and add it to her little program and that would give me a way to justify sticking with her. I almost did and ironically not with a girl from John, I was about to pay PerfectionJeff for a girl I thought had star potenital - of course within a day I discovered Jeff had lied to me and that deal never happened.
