Because my birthhday falls in september I had to start a year later so I was 7 in the first grade. 14 in the 8th.

hmm okay, so looks like 13/14 is about the age then.

i just thought it seemed hella weird that a 15 yr old was in 8th grade. maybe cuz i was 16 yrs old in 12th that it seemed even that much more strange. ::shrugs::

And figure if this kid was the same but somewhere along the line he failed a grade and was held back then he could be 15 in 8th grade.

I was the same as you. After seeing the public school system in action, there are a lot of 8th graders you could easily be more afraid of than adults.

But interestingly...when I got into high school, my freshman year of a 4-year high school, there was a senior named Angelo. Shame of the matter is he was held back another year when I graduated from high school. I am not sure how old he was but I would guess around 24 or 25 cuz when I was a freshman he had already been in high school more than 4 years.

More to the subject...I spoke to a friend of mine in Florida when this story broke...she was raised in Longwood and this particular school is filled with under-priveledged kids from the worst part of town. Not unrealistic for this child to have been held back multiple times during his academia.

I was older than everyone in my class because of the same sort of reason. I was born in December 1976 but they didn't put you in by year but by who turned what before September. Just about everyone else in my class was born in 1977. So, I was 14 in 8th grade.

13. being 15 and in 8th grade doesnt make you dumb. some poeple i know were mid 14 while i was late 13. doesn't matter

he should have been in 9th grade probably, but that isn't anyhting crazy.

I will start my kids in school LATE so they will be bigger and smarter than other kids (hopefully).

i wasnt callin the kid a moron cuz of his age in 8th grade, i was calling him a moron for bringing a gun to school & holding another kid hostage then threating a SWAT guy (which resulted in him getting shot lol).

i didnt even know what the "normal" age was, hence, this thread.

same here... fucking texas and that bullshit rule that you have to be 5 on the day school starts or you cant go to school at all that year... i turned 5 on September 23rd, just three weeks after school started but I had to miss the whole year over it.
