Interesting New Business Idea For Making Money On Tradeshows
I just thought of this, whoever runs with this idea can thank me later by buying me lots of beer at the next tradeshow ;)
For shows like Phoenix Forum and Internext start booking rooms WAAAAAY ahead and buy them in bulk. So when finally the show is announced everyone scrambles to grab a room and finds out that the rooms are all booked.
Then about 1-2 weeks before the show you start selling those rooms to people at a decent marked up price. Say you get the room for $150 a night and you start letting them go for say $200-225 a night. Hence you get a good price, your customer gets a room without being gauged too much and everyone makes out alright! Plus the hotel would not charge your credit card until you actually check-in and you can cancel rooms up to 24 hours in advance if you don't sell the room to someone.
Plus the show itself gets a boost because it's being plugged as a "SOLD OUT" show.
What do you guys think? Shady business or a legitimate service that people would use?
