I know you have to play, and I know its something like:

you have played an average of 200$ a hand for the past 6 hours.

but do you have to apply for being comped? do you even need a room there? do you need to sign something? or tell the dealer you wish to get comped?

and playing how much gets you what exactly?

Wire 10k to the hotel before you show up. That should get you some comps.

yes, and put EVERYTHING on the card - at the tables, restaurant, anything. At the end of the weekend they should give you a break on the room, maybe free tickets to their house show, etc.

And of course stick to playing at the tables in the hotel you are staying at only.

Go to playersclub.com (MGM Mirage Hotels). It took awhile, at first i thought i was't getting anything, but now the comps dont stop! I can probably stay in Vegas for a few weeks for free. I've been offered free food anywhere in the MGM Grande / Treasure Island (they have some nice restaurants there too), spa credit, over $1000 in free casino chips, super bowl party tickets, open bar, several show and concert tickets, and atleast 2 weeks in free hotel...

You just have to play atleast $25 a hand, and you have to play for several hours. I probably averaged a few hundred dollars each hand, but that's not too important. My friend only did $25 a hand, and she was still offered a few comps but not as many as i received... If you do a couple hundred each hand, then you can probably get your friends comped for everything too, which makes for a good trip when everything is free!

I find that a few hundred a hand does it, yeah.

You don't even have to spend the day there -- just be consistent.

They probably comp you percantage of their profits, you piss away a grand on the roulette table, they give you a $200 dinnner for free...
piss away $5 grand, they give you free room upgrade, dinner and something else worth $1k perhaps...

well if blackjack is your game, they go off your playtime, buys, and average bet size. get a "players card" or whatever that hotel calls it. give it to the dealer when you buy chips, and they log it. then the pit boss watches your bets, notice him taking notes in his little black book, or on the computers.

betting $200+/hand usually will get you some cool stuff.

When you go to table just hand them your players card and tell them you want to be "rated".

                          That's it.

And they'd actually rather have winners stay around.. so they can get back some (or all and more) of that money they gave you. Losers already lost their money, so they'll just walk around eating up the freebies hanging their heads.

You have to join their membership thingy and they give you a card and everytime you play or spend money they swipe it. If they see you spend, and lose a lot of money, you get comped quite a bit. Why ex-girlfriends whitetrash family from Chicago would get comped all the time, and they ain't rich, on of them drives a fucking city bus... but they go to Vegas and spend all the money they save.

oh and I should add, all they ever play is the video poker and some (very little) blackjack, so you don't have to play big hands, like someone mentioned. Just spend a lot or lose a lot.

I just got a players card from the venetian and used it everytime I gambled. I played between $25-100 per hand and played for quite a few hours. I didn't get squat LOL! However I did win about $1500 over the time I played so I wasn't complaining ;)

What I do... I stay away from the tables and the comp cards... I go to poker rooms and make a few hundred to a few grand per day... Fuck the comps... I just made enough for the dinner, the shows, the rooms, etc...

this will buy you more than any comp card.

they usually have 2 levels of comps. the cards (which entice you to stay) then the VIP cards which mean you're a heavy hitter. if you wire money and don't spend it they wire it back, but at least they know you are coming and will do whatever they can to get that money out of your hands and into their accounts.

First you have to be of age.

Don't worry about it until you're able to actually gamble and drink.

we bought a total of 10 nights in mid range suites, and 8 nights in the lower suites, so 18 nights total, plus I gambled like 1k, and when i went to ask for a 12 hour late check out, they still didn't wanna give anything up. Ended up getting a 1/2 price day though. i d like to know what it takes too!!

Playing the nickel slots won't get you any comps. In your case, you might want to try to make an offer to blowing the pit boss.

Comps is all based on numbers: Average bet amount x number of (hands|rolls|spins)/hour x number of hours plays x expected house advantage.

They calculate this out and give you comps based on that.

The two things you can obviously change are average bet and number of hours played. If you're only betting $25/hand but you're playing for 10 hours, you're going to get some decent comps. If you're betting $200/hr, you don't need to play nearly as long to get comps.

                                                      Example: $25 average bet x 60 hands per hour (blackjack) x 4 hours x 2.5% = $120

So given the above, the casino expects to make $120 on you, so you might get comp'ed some food court shit, but don't expect too much.

                                                      Example 2: $200 x 60 x 4 x 2.5% = $960. Definitely an R-F-B player..

Don't be shy about asking for comps - all they can say is no.

Just charge everything to your room and get it comp'ed later..

                                                        That summs it up nicely....

I play roulette and I average $250 per spin but i gave them 24 hours over the 3 days.....so they give me pretty much anything i want plus free rooms.....

especially if you go in high limit rooms......nice and quiet there anyhow....

                                                          I don't really understand.

I always thought they comped if you lose. Why worry about getting a $500 comp if you lost $2,000 at blackjack? I'd rather play poker and put my winnings towards my trip.

Or instead of working for a comp, you could use the original gambling money, likely 400% higher at the low end, and apply to all the things you wanted comped in the first place.

I just don't like gambling, I would rather just pay for dinners, concerts, etc....

Its a combo of time played and amount bet. I get rooms off and on, Last time I got one I put in about 20 hours over 3 days and was playing 50 bucks a hand.

I've never seen a pit boss offer anyone anything. If you wait a few hours after playing you can go to the players club desk and they will look at your updated player rating and if its good you can request free hotel / food / show tickets... Or you can wait several weeks and they will mail you several offers - you can also log into the playersclub.com website to see your offers. But don't expect comp offers to show up immediately.

This is pretty much dead on. I've done both examples and ended up with these outcomes.

In my experience, if you want the hotel to even look at you, you have to play minimum $25 hand x 4 hours.

If you play at "off strip" casino's, they tend to give more away to a player. They have local traffic but they are also wanting out of towners. The two Major casino companies that you should look at for this are "Stations Casinos" and "Coast Casinos". Both companies have several properties to choose from (off strip).

Also, tip the Bell Hop as much as you can. These guys know how and where to get items and services. They could care less how much you spend gaming, but if you are a good tipper, they will look out for you. The Bell Desk at the hotel that I stay at also runs the limo service. Because I tip them well, I use the hotel limo service. Even though I am not a "ranked" player or have a host. It's all about the money.

Speaking of limos, if you want to go to a strip club, make sure you ask a limo driver to take you. They will ususally do the trip for around $20, Esp. if you have a few "heads" in your group. The reason for this is because the driver gets $20.00 a head kickback from the door. 5 people in the limo + $20.00 tip from the "heads" = $120.00 run for the driver (all of which he gets to keep).

This is just a few examples of raising the bar on your Vegas trip.
