I think he took him seriously. The problem is that Chuck is a counter puncher and Rampage forced Chuck to come forward. Chuck wanted that fight bad thus the mental mistake. Anytime you come forward directly in front of your opponent throwing wide you'll be an open target. Which is the thing that really irritates me about MMA. These guys have terrible footwork. Most will try to make an argument that you have to defend the take down but it has nothing to do with it. Great boxers circle their opponents and use angles to pick them apart, for some reason MMA's always stand right in front of each other.
