WTF: Someone is ripping off my site!

Arg this pisses me off. I've seen sites using "ElliNude" as a keyword before, but this takes the cake. If you view this site's source, you can see he's grabbed full text from my site, and every image is labeled with "Elli Nude". He even has my email address in there! This line is from the text of a blog entry I made on September 4th: "Or would you prefer to dive into the lake off the swim dock-sized rear bumper?" !!

So this person has ripped content from my site at ElliNude.com and also from my blog at TheReluctantPornstar.com and stuffed his gallery with my name and email and various other Elli references.

This is so uncool I can't even begin to describe! Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can contact this person or what recourse I have? (Every time you refresh the site, it shows a different page. But the meta information in page source is always the same.)

No, they are using my textual content to pad their own page. As far as I can see there are none of my photos or videos there. It's hard to tell though, since the page shows up differently on every refresh.

Yay, one of those affiliate code changing shit codec installer sites...check your stats for the scraping bot and block the IP via .htaccess. Not much else you can do, those guys have millions of pages like this one in google, spread over LOADS of domains, often parasite hosting as well.

There's not a lot you can do about them.. but those guys are scraping a shit load of sites and it's all black hat SEO stuff... I've been reporting all those domains to google.

I hear ya... Google is partly to blame.. They could very easily flag those types of sites for aditional crawling of external javascript files etc. but they choose not to for some reason.

Actually, there is a potential option but it's not 100%. You set up a bot trap on your site. It needs to be a more advanced type because these guys are getting more brazen and are setting up their crawlers to pretend to be googlebot, slurp etc.

Scraping just means taking content from other sites and republishing it, some rewrite it to hide their tracks, some just copy it 1:1. They look for pages listed well for a keyword, in google for example, and send a bot to your page that copies your content and put up their own keyword optimized page this way. A blackhat version of content syndication...

In theory, it's easy to stop them, but the effort needed is often not really worth the results. You'd need to find the IPs they use(d) for crawling your sites in your logfiles and block them from access, but unfortunately, they often use anonymous proxies or are on dynamic IPs from big providers.

The best thing coming to my mind is reporting them to google, the page is cloaked, contains malware, well enough to get them kicked...but it will just take minutes and the stuff is up somewhere else again.

I have good news: I reported all the pages of this kind that I found in the first 10 pages of Google results on the 12th, and as of today they are 99% gone from the Google listings! Yay!
