Yahoo took my hard worked SEO and sold it to an affiliate

    Search:
    http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=bra...v1-&fl=0&x=wrt

Notice the root domain @ #1. That was planned.

    Then click it:
    http://tour.brazilbang.com/?nats=MjI0NzoxMDoxMw

The spot was sold to an affiliate for what should be a root #1.

    Yahoo sucks balls.

    Viva google.

Contact the affiliate talk to him and tell him nicely that you won't pay for that traffic. I'm sure you've already considered or done this, but I do agree yahoo selling 'free' spots is fucked up. But shouldn't be a major problem for you.

The least they could've done is put a sponsored link above and leave the free listing intact. I agree with Chief, contact the affiliate and let him/her know those signups won't be paid for.

Nah, I'm fine with wildlinecorp.com getting it. They are a good affiliate.

I SEO'ed those sites myself, so we could get the #1 when you search for one of our sites. Wildline had nothing to do with that. Yahoo selling the #1 spots to affiliates is a very fucked up practice though.

Let's hope that Google doesn't go the same route Yahoo has gone with selling free spots.

jay i wasn't directing that google optimization thing to you, but to the other guy who mentioned getting 10x traffic from yahoo over google. anyone getting that much MORE traffic from yahoo than google needs to work on their google seo.

I don't know, maybe for the same ebay will term you if as an affiliate you promote them on adwords using keywords such as 'ebay'. Now imagine how ebay would feel if their free position that they earnt over the years was being sold to an affiliate. I understand Jay's opinion, if wildline is a good affiliate for him it might be in his benefit to just let them have it, but that's for him to decide.

I've made plenty of money off paysite name traffic. Thing is...I never bought up my competitors natural listings.

If they were sending to another site I would really be pissed. I'm sure Yahoo has terms about doing that.

indeed.. someone should start a site that maintains a list of posts that cause gfy'ers to be blacklisted from sending traffic to. chief and damagex's posts definitely qualify.

The only thing that they are really getting is 50% of listings that I should have been getting 100% of. They had nothing to do with the positioning of the domains that I am aware of. In fact, I sacrificed a lot of links to my paysites with no aff code to get these to #1. Now Yahoo sells out half of my hard work?

I don't fault wildline for taking advantage of this. I fault Yahoo for being greedy scumbags.

what makes you think yahoo "sold it". if they did, how do you go about buying the listings? it isnt an overture listing is it?

what do you think about the adwords at on top of your google listing that they sold?

The affiliate is buying ad spots offered... nothing more nothing less.

There is NOTHING preventing Jay from buying them back if it's cost effective and he so desires.

How come it doesn't indicate that it's a sponsored listing ? How does Yahoo "sell" the #1 spot like that in free listings ? If it's not SEO, and it's sold.. where do you buy them ?

I'm not an idiot either, I wouldn't mess with a good affiliate over something like that.
It is activity like this that prevents others from becoming GOOD affiliates... no wonder it is harder to make money now than 10 years ago, you cocksmokers ego's are through the fucking roof.

                                                        Get a grip on yourself.

You sir are 100% fucking retarded. Jay owns the site in question, what if an affiliate was the one with a top listing?

Would I buy ads on something like this, sure! I'd also expect some people to not pay my ass considering how shitty of a traffic method it is.

Just tell Yahoo to pull your sites. If you don't like their business practices, why do business with them?

Yahoo dosen't 'OWE' you anything, nor should it be expected.

Bad move not to pay an affiliate like that.

Hey btw speaking of yahoo.. what the hell do I have to do to get my number one spot back? Back when they used google's listings I have number one's on both.

However when they changed up to using their own.. stuff got all 'F'ed up.. my listing was still number one however if you clicked the link it went to someone else's site. Soon after I was gone, I assumed I got banned, which is BS..

I sent countless e-mails with no replies.. finally a year or so latter I start pulling in hit's from search.yahoo again, but nothing like before.

I can't seem to get the site back up to the top like it was before.. Even for it's own domain name other sites take my spot on yahoo and I'm nowhere to be found. Yet the sites listed are normally listed because I'm trading with them.

Top this off with I have continued to still pull my dir.yahoo traffic with no issues at all..

So WTF is up with yahoo..

and contrary to whats been posted, the way this service works they are indeed selling that spot right out from the site owner , and even worse , many times they are selling a directory listing already paid..

example.. i own www.widgets.com , i buy a directory listing on yahoo for $200, i build my site for 5 years optimizing the keywords "widgets", finally obtaining #1 listing. then yahoo sells my link to wildline who sells it to the highest bidder.. before i got "xxxx" free hits from yahoo , now i pay 15% cut for every hit from yahoo

From the way wildline is setup though , they say they dont sell spots to affiliates , only to owners..

do google users have more money? Do google users spend more?

Is google for men & yahoo is for women when it comes to porn.

What about traffic from msn. I got a boatload of #1 to #5 listings on msn, & those same keywords I am ranked on google at like #28 to #100 or something like that. Sure google would send more than msn, but what about quality?? Would a google user pay & not an msn user??? I find that most of my targeted traffic comes from yahoo & msn, & most of my freeloaders & wankers come from google.

On most of my non google SE traffic, they are searching general porn keyword strings. On google they are searching solo girls using the models name and the word free. I'd rather get the other traffic. The google ones looking up the solo girls are just looking for more FREE !!!!

But that's only applicable to some of my sites because of the content & keywords I have.

I didn't pay for it. Hell, I couldn't afford to pay for it anyway! I'm just a small fry. It lasted a month, it switched around, and then it came back to me again. It seems to do this in cycles.

I do not know what caused the yahoo bot to choose my link affiliate code to the site as I am nowhere NEAR an SEO Guru. It was complete luck. I'm betting yahoo would want thousands of dollars for a spot like that, which I don't have
