According to quantum physics, even the most unlikely events have a finite possibility of occurring, so yes, it is possible to earn a living just gambling.Originally posted by Alex from MontrealWhat do you think. Is it possible to earn a living just gambling?Comment

I met a guy in Miami that makes his living outsourcing his gambeling.
He stands at the door of a casino, and hands someone 10k. If they lose, they lose. if they win, he gets the 10k back, plus 50% of the winnings.
a news paper did a story on him, and they say that he makes about 100k a week.PornGuy skype me pornguy_epic

Or have a stable base of backers. Some wealthy businessmen here in the Philippines back some professional gamblers who systematically beat the house. Apparently the ROI is good because such a system exists. Not a guarantee against the inevitable bust out though since STATISTICALLY the house will win... inevitablyOriginally posted by The GhostSure it's possible. I know that boxing has a lot of professional betters. The public workouts 4-5 days before big fights are full with two types of people. Media, photographs and the likes. And professional boxing betters.Comment

Same here. I don't know anyone that consistantly wins and live off of it...Originally posted by Mike33I don't know of anybody that does it. I know of people that gamble but they're the kind of people that can afford to. They win sometimes, lose others probably with a net loss over the long term.Comment

Very wrong.Originally posted by Mike33I'm sure it's possible though but very few could do it successfully. Not only would it require skill on the actual betting, but an enormous amount of restraint too.
There are tons of people that are professional gamblers.
Ever watch WSOP or WPT. Those account for a small percent of professional poker players, there are thousands more.Care about me?

True, but do you think there are lots of people that do this successfully? I mean, you're looking at the best of the best on things like WSOP. There are millions of gamblers, but not many that make a living from it. At least I wouldn't think so, but I could be wrong.Originally posted by AlexVery wrong.

There are VERY few people that gamble successfully, for every 1000 gamblers 5 make money, and 4 out of those 5 make money by selling services (sell tips, promote gambling sites, etc) to the other 995 suckers....Last edited by woj; 01-03-2006, 03:46 PM.Custom Software Development, email: woj#at#wojfun#.#com to discuss details or skype: wojl2000 or gchat: wojfun or telegram: wojl2000

I think the numbers are like 5-10% of poker players are break even or better...but when you visit poker chat boards it's kind of like GFY. No one's broke, everyone's successful and making money.Originally posted by AlexVery wrong.

There are a lot of poker players who go broke every year...top players.
Gus Hansen according to some higher ups here in Vegas is broke now because of some prop bets he made with Chip Reese at $50K a pop..he lost something like $2,000,000.00
T.J. Cloutier is known for his craps habit and is always needing a backer in order to play in the tournaments.
Mike Matusow won a million at the WSOP and lost it all within a couple of months.
The list goes on.
Edited to Add: And if you realised what it costs for these pro poker players to play in the top tournaments every year you'd realize that one win of a $200K or $400K may just have them breaking even.
Sure there are some professional gamblers out there, but go and visit any casino in Vegas *I live here* and you will see them all. There are far more snaggly toothed, decrepit old men and women hocking their tv's trying to get by than there are young guys roaming the strip in limos with their roulette winnings.Last edited by eroswebmaster; 01-03-2006, 03:54 PM.For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

Oh yeah..just wanted to add one more thing.
This town was not built on winners.
And imagine the house has at times an edge less than 1%...and yet they still rake in billions every year across the country. For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

But tennis is more about skill then luck. Most people that play do it for fun, not to make bank because they know they're not good enough to go pro.Originally posted by David - PGSame with everything else.

The best way to make money from gambling is to become a bookmaker -
A buddy of mine was a bookie and I kept his records for 5 years. A little over 4% of his customers won over the course of a year - about the same number broke even and over 90% lost. Of course, some deadbeats tried to stiff us when they lost. The best way to collect was to threaten to call their wives or girlfriends. They almost always paid up and a lot of them quit betting after that. They were a lot more afraid of their old ladies than any thing we could threaten them with.Comment

its possible but there's never an assurance.Comment

Attempting to make a living "gambling" is no different that attempting to make a living not "gambling"... the people with the most information who take the best calculated risks will come out ahead and the rest will fall by the wayside.
Is risking money on sports betting or poker really all that different than sinking your life savings into starting a business?
Life is a gamble -- birth to death...Last edited by broke; 01-04-2006, 01:04 AM.Comment

The question wasn't "Can any idiot make lots of money gambling?", it was "Are there players out there that make serious cash with gambling".
With 100m people gambling worldwide (casino, sports, day trading, etc.), you can rest assured there are a few hundred or even thousand doing this full time and making a decent to very good living off of it.Comment
