Spanish and even though most wouldn't consider it a "language", I'd like to learn how to sign.
Oh yes it's not a language
Spanish (español) or Castilian (castellano) is an Iberian Romance language, and the fourth most-widely spoken language in the world according to some sources, while other sources list it as the second or third most spoken language. It is spoken as a first language by about 352 million people, or by 417 million including non-native speakers (according to 1999 estimates). Some assert that, after English, Spanish can now be considered the second most important language in the world (probably replacing even French), due to its increased usage in the United States, the high birth rate in most of the countries where it is official, the growing economies of the Spanish-speaking world, its influence on the global music market, and simply due to the broad number of areas on the Earth's surface that the language is spoken in.
you can get by yes
there is not a ton of difference in the two, being latin based, both use alot of the same words, inflections and structuring can be a little different.
One that you don't already speak. I'm starting in on Spanish this week after years of slowly picking up the basics of German I felt I needed a break from it and a new challenge.
If I thought I could do it I would like to know a bit of Japanese too.
What language would you like to learn?
I speak french and english..
But I want to learn German too!! Any tips for a beginner like me? Books, sites.. etc?
I know a bit of Japanese but I'd like to finish learning in order to speak it fluently.
I'll never learn how to write or read kana though. All those squiggly lines are confusing.
Mandarin would be cool to learn but the Chinese language seems like the hardest. Even if you learn how to speak it properly from a teacher, it seems the people have such bad grammer that the way they conversationally speak it would be hard to follow. I'd call it Chi-bonics.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...
My dads family is Maltese so Id love to learn Maltese. I'm so sick of going to family things and not knowing what anyone is saying about mum,my lil sis and myself lo.
