A Somber Moment This Morning.
I come in to the office this morning to a message left on our customer support line overnight. It was a woman calling in regarding an account "her son signed up for."
"Great," I think... another mother complaining that her underage son stole her credit card to make a fraudulent purchase, and some how thinks we're to blame for it all.
I dial in the numbers... she picks up, and it turns out I couldn't have been more wrong.
Her son was sent to Iraq 3 weeks ago, and was killed in action a week after he arrived. She was looking to get his financial matters in order, and so I helped her as I was able.
I knew the last name sounded familiar... I remember talking to the same user the week before he shipped out.
Kinda somber when the reality of what's going on hits you like that.
