    pornaccess.com redirecting FHG to 404

    I would think twice before using there FHG, seems allot of them go to 404... Very bad business practice. I tought their was something fishy about them. I would not be surprise that they shave the hell out of people also.

So I call that cheating...fucking bastards

                                                                                      It might be one of there Round Robin servers has a corrupted file in it. Whenever you see a well known sponsor's Free hosted galleries redirecting try emailing them and telling them the URL's so they can fix the problem. Its not fishy they just might have a small bug in there servers and you can help them fix it.

                                                                                      404 redirection is usually nessesary to help pay for the huge $10,000-$20,000 free hosting/free hosted galleries servers & bandwidth. Most sponsors do this to help cover 20% of the cost of the hosting.

                                                                                          Thats CRAP - Dont give us that BS, if they cant afford giving out FHG so dont have this option & give us free video content to use instead. Its just plain cheating.

                                                                                                                          PJ, This is caused by server problems, pornaccess is using close to 2 Gbps in bandwidth and is running on over 30 servers. In complex setups like that, sometimes shit goes wrong.

                                                                                                                          Now that you have reported the problem in such a professional fashion, engineers are looking at the problem, most likely the free videos did not get properly copied on all the servers.

                                                                                                                          Why would a program intentionaly make his videos go to 404 pages? No reasonable surfers would signup to a site where the videos don't load!

                                                                                                                          Thanks for bearing with us, the problem should be resolved very shortly.

                                                                                                                                                  But while we are on the topic.. it is very easy for a program to track what pages are leading to the 404's by simply collecting the referrers.

This is true but i wouldnt give the "all clear" just yet. While in theory it sounds like common sense but it seems to occur way to frequently..

                                                                                                                                                      If a program logged all ip's of webmasters accessing stats , then made those ip's never get 404'd and randomly 404 a certain set of ip's every few minutes, it would be very difficult to spot.

                                                                                                                                                                  Oops I think you read what I said completely wrong, what I meant was sponsors giving out free hosting do often set a 404 redirect for when surfers type in different URL's in the browser that then cause a error (page not found) and the redirect then points them to another page.

                                                                                                                                                                  I was certainly not saying that Pornaccess was redirecting this on purpose. What I was saying is that there must of been a error somewhere in the servers files that was causing this 404 error hence why it was redirecting to that page. They certainly don't mean to do that on purpose they are a well respected company. And i'm sure they will fix this server issue quickly.

                                                                                                                                                                      I was saying that they have a 404 error redirection (for surfers typing in bad URL's). (which most sponsors have) (it does not effect affilates galleries) UNLESS there is an error in the gallery. The galleries on pornaccess they are talking about seem to have some kind of error from (maybe) server files corrupted or miss aligned. This error causes the redirection. Which Pornaccess certainly did not mean to do to its affilates and i'm sure they will fix it fast now that they surely know about it.

                                                                                                                                                                              404 redirection = (surfer visits gallery & types in different URL into browser (page not found error 404 happens = surfer is redirected to 404 page)

                                                                                                                                                                              This type of redirection is NOT a FORCED 404 redirection and this DOES NOT EFFECT AFFILIATES traffic in any way and I was certainly not justifying any type of Forced redirection

                                                                                                                                                                              We are a 100% legit, 100% honorable affilate program and would never do anything stupid like screwing affilates. Some people not understanding everything misread my post which I should of made more clear.

                                                                                                                                                                                      He never said you need to cheat and steal, he simply said you need to have a 404 and pointed out a very possible (and the same Karl mentioned) reason why it could be happening.

                                                                                                                                                                                      He explained in more detail what he meant so I won't again, but you guys really need to read slowly not just grab keywords and call someone who has been in this industry a long time a scammer.

                                                                                                                                                                                              Suggestion #1: set up a 404 script that checks against a central server to see if a file that SHOULD be there, isn't. If so, then log an error and print a short msg... DON'T redirect!

                                                                                                                                                                                              Suggestion #2: have your 404 script figure out the affiliate ID from the referer, and make sure that gets inserted into your 404 page.
