    No.

Was a child abductor caught in the area your child could have been left alone in, but wasn't? Maybe there was a bad accident at the bus stop in the 5 minutes the other parent was waiting with your child?

What makes this an ALMOST? Am I missing something here?

My kid can be trusted to play safely at that location, but it is not safe. The street is a 140 degree corner, like the letter Y shape. One side is a 60km/hr main street right and the other is residential/commercial. There are strangers walking around, businesses across the street, and no bus shelter, benches etc. To be there is to just stand there, waiting, in an area ripe for accidents or criminal activity.

It is not a matter of trusting my kid, and it never was.

You are definitely missing something. Yes, there ARE convicted child predators in this city, and they do not release their location for the predators own safety. Recently it was revealed through the community that there are 2, possibly 3 of them living in an apartment complex 5 minutes down the road.

What makes it almost is that there was everything needed for a bad thing to occur, without it actually happening.

Sounds like the area you are living is the problem, not a lazy bus driver. You should direct your anger twords city officials who let all those bad guys roam around your kids bus stop.
No doubt one may quote history to support any cause, as the devil quotes scripture.

Well, that certainly makes it sound worse. Still though, in my mind almost means almost. At least better than even chance.

So what you're saying is that there is a place, where a school drops off children, where there is say a better than even chance that a child left alone for 5 minutes will be lost? Where the hell do you live? Cambodia?

I was standing on a curb today, and a bus drove by doing 50 kph like 6 inches from the curb.

I was almost hit by a bus today.

Huggles, I agree, even though you're being sarcastic.

I see little kids taking the bus and walking to and from school and it makes me cringe. #1, the public school systems here in the US suck and they don't give a shit about your kids. #2, there are all kinds of predators out there looking for kids on their way to and from school. I might be a bit overprotective, but I just feel that these days you can't be too careful when it comes to your children.
I agree with you. I was surprised to find that my son's school really wanted him to take the bus, to give him more independence (hes in preschool) - I think its really weird to do that if you don't need to.

I know you'd never actually do that unless clinically insane, but stop and think about it for a minute.

If you actually were to do that, YOU would become the reason that I'd never want my child left alone in this world.
                        Good point, Stuart.
