Christians then celebrated their own events on the same days for a couple of reasons. Firstly, in the early days Christians were persecuted for their beliefs and the only time they could celebrate their beliefs was during pagan celebrations so as not to arouse suspicion. When Christianity became more popular, celebrating those events on the same days as pagan events became more about overshadowing the pagan rituals they used to hide behind.
Christianity like many religions take claim to whatever they think they can, as to make their points... religions as I have said are tools of war... there is tuns of documentation to support this point...
