Interesting questions.. there is a big difference between beleive in god and religion. I do believe in God.. though not in the religioun that man has created to serve him. The alternative is nothingness - and honestly, I enjoy having hope and faith. If you want vegas odds then here you go = if you die and their is a God then not beleiving in him your going to hell - choose to think that when you die nothing happens you still have lived a life with no regrets and lived in harmony with people.

I'd rather be a nice guy who is considerate and kind to others than a bastard, simple as that. I like having hope and faith - keeps me honest even in business. I dont push it onto others, just live my life as well as I can and Im happy.

Newsflash: Ethics and Morals exist separately from Religion, Faith in a Devine being and other Supernatural Concepts.

Hope and Faith are not exclusive to the supernatural.

Also, your "Vegas Odds" idea is very poor logic.

When I hit a point where money wasnt as important and I had enough I wanted a child to take me to the next level and motivate me again. so I had a daughter who will be 3 in march. all my hard work is for her. that is my after life

I don't believe in god but i have had a few experiences that lead me to believe in a guiding energy of path ..I feel your given a path ... and then you make choses ... those choses will change that path .. you can fuck it up and deal with Karma or you can improve it ... I do believe in an after life and i feel the way you handle your path in this life determines your next path ... based on the first 25 years of my life ..I think i fucked up my last ... I'm 30 now and have truly found my way and feel I'm bettering myself and people around me ... the next one should be a breeze ..

religion is not "divine" inspiration.

religion is created by humans as a psycho mechanism to relieve stress, and give meaning or explain the unknown. "religious" people are neither better or worse than those who do not believe in the metaphysical.

it gives comfort to people if they can believe they will meet up with deceased family members in heaven, and walk on streets paved with gold and eat chocolate bon bons for eternity.

"religion" has existed for millions of years in various forms. you believe what you believe not because your belief system is intrinsically better or more valid than someone elses, but because of WHEN and WHERE you were born in the world---if people could understand this simple fact maybe they wouldn't get so bent out of shape about it.

in modern society religion is highly codified now and people take it very seriously...but the reality is that we are advanced mammals, and going to church and praying to jesus is exactly the same as a dog barking at the moon.

so be good to your feel humans today, this afternoon. love your children, love your significant other, and live a full good life starting right now.

because when you die, you are dead for a long time.

Death is painful, but deceiving yourself about it devalues life.

People believe in God because they're told by clueless family members that God exists from the day they're born. Power of suggestion at it's best. If you were told E.T. was real from the day you were born, today you would believe E.T. was real and would be worshiping him and praying to him, without ever questioning it's authenticity.
