Sponsors Who Are Stingy About Content

    Grrr, gotta vent.

I've got a sponsor who added a new site a couple of months ago, and made the pictures from 25 hosted galleries available to affiliates for use. I've used the cream of those photos for weekly blog posts, and had very good sales -- thousands of dollars worth. But now, alas, there's nothing fresh to use from that initial slug of content.

The site's updating four times a week, so I wrote to inquire whether I could use content from the member's area. First response: Of course we'll be happy to help you with more content, what do you need?

I thought that was puzzling; I had already explained that I need new content every week or two, and had asked if the member's area was the place to get it. But I wrote back and said that again, emphasizing that I was looking for an ongoing solution, a way to get new content on a regular basis.

Response: we can't let you use pics from the members area, but we'll send you another content pack in a few days, hope that solves your problem.

I really had to grab my own fingers, to keep from responding: "OK, thanks, no worries -- there's plenty of other sponsors to promote when that content pack gets stale."

Sponsors, what's the deal? I understand not wanting to turn all your random never-made-a-sale affiliates loose with fresh member content, but if you had a productive affiliate doing several thousand a month in sales for you, wouldn't you be willing to consider letting him make at least some limited use of your fresh material, to the tune of two or three still pictures every ten days or so?

theres a delicate balance between not enough and too much. my affils have plenty, maybe too much. content is expensive. expecially exclusive content.

no one wants all their content slathered all over the internet. giving out jsut the right amount is the trick.

Please add me to your icq... I can recommend a program or two for you that would welcome your joins with open arms and give you all the content you could possibly want from the members area.

RRRED, no ICQ here I'm afraid. I'm in some pretty narrow niches anyway, if you've got programs I could promote like this, I'd probably already know about them.

LOL, save your marketing, guys. In my primary niche there are less than a dozen programs, and I'm promoting them *all* or I have a damned good reason why not.

I'd love to have a big mainstream business, but I'm too damned busy in my niches.

What A1R3K said is very true. 10 years ago when i started on the web there was very little free content around but now the internet is flooded. Our program works on an individual affiliates needs, we even shoot content specifically for out top affiliates. Its a different market from the old Busty-Amateur days of 1999.

What about cash.com with spanking.com? I'm sure you're already there. Also for bondage sites, have you tried Bill's sites from Pornmegabucks?

Cash.com? That presents as a parked domain full of random non-adult PPC links. Spanking.com presents as a personals site, I've never seen any content with their brand on it. I'd be willing to consider promoting them, but they have no webmaster links visible. Looks like I need to eat my words a little bit if they've got a webmaster program. My email is [email protected]....

Pornmegabucks is another story -- my results with them have been very poor. Very much in the "good reason I don't promote them" category, although I do still have minor links up in a few places.

But of course all this is off topic to the thread, sorry folks!

Lets also not forget that many sites simply dont have the rights to give content in their members area to affiliates to use.

Just because content is exclusive, that doesnt mean that the producer handed FULL rights to the content to the site owner it was shot for

                        Regards,

Lee, that's the most likely explanation in my case. But I still don't understand the casual attitude about finding a way to get me content on anything but a one-time basis.

i do whatever i want with my members area. however, i only allow the affils that i trust into it. my sets are bought outright and shot exclusively for ragecash sites. i own the sets. i'm not bantering for a new affil sign up, i tell it how it is in every thread, with honesty. this is my opinion and contribution to a question posed. simply that. happy new year everyone. 2006 is going to be a great year for all of us.

I'm going to shoot james and mike an email for you. Spanking.com is the biggest network of spanking freaks out there. It's been up for years. They also own kink.com and thesybian.com which would go good with what you have.

ALSO, they own probably the largest database of domains on the net too. I see some of your spanking domains, etc. and that they are for sale. I think you really should try them. Be warned. If you negotiate with Sandra on the phone, hang on to your chair and take an aspirin first. She's really good!

Anyway I hope some of this was of help. Actually here email mkennedy AT guesswho.com and james AT hotmoves.com and if you want to cc me rrred AT comcast.net I'll help you get acquainted with them.

I hope they don't hate me for taking their #1 Google result for spanking, LOL -- it's made me a lot of money since. I knew they were big, I just thought they were a typein-monetizing outfit.

That part I did know -- they crosslink a lot of their domains and own a lot of interesting one-words.

Heh, probably a waste of both our times, then -- I'm not really in a selling mood. I'm not in their league, but what I've got (mostly not on that list these days, I haven't updated in forever) looks to me like stuff that will appreciate, so my negotiating stance tends to be "Stun me with an offer. Nope, sorry, I meant stun me in a *good* way. Have a nice day!"
